During the week leading up to February 14th, the Department of Veterans
Affairs will host the annual National
Salute to Hospitalized Veterans’ Program, better known as “Valentines for
Vets.” This is a wonderful opportunity
for school children to create Valentine cards to express their appreciation to America’s hospitalized veterans and soldiers.
Nationwide, others will help in similar
activities with the VA Medical Centers
(VAMC) during Hospitalized Veterans
Week, February 8th to the 14th,
2010.
Solipsys invites Maple Lawn families
and employees to participate in making this Valentines Day a very special
one for local veterans and soldiers by
having their children make and donate valentines. We will also gladly
accept donations of readyready-made,
store bought Valentine cards, and
would appreciate it if folks would sign
a simple note wishing a veteran a
happy Valentine's Day.
Turn in all cards to the receptionist at
Solipsys (8170 Maple Lawn Drive,
Suite 300) no later than Friday, February 5th, 2010.
Here are some tips for making Valentines for Veterans:
•
Please do not include or attach
any candy or chocolate with the
Valentine cards.
•
Try not to use materials that can
easily break away from the Valentine cards. The Valentines will
be delivered along with large
quantities of other cards, and it
is important that your Valentine
remains as beautiful as it was
when it was made!
•
Have your children tell the veteran a little bit about themselves, for example, their age
and what school they attend,
but please do not include addresses or phone numbers.
•
Do not put Valentines in sealed
envelopes.
•
And last, but not least, remember to sign your cards!!

Did You Plunge in the snow on January
30th? If you did plunge send us you picture for next newsletter
with your name and any pertinent info. The snow started around
10 AM and by the time of the 1 PM plunge it was snowing hard
and the beach was covered. This did not deter the enthusiasm of
the plungers for the Special Olympics. After the mass plunge at 1
PM there was also a celebrity plunge with the likes of the Governor, Joe Flacco, Adam Terry and others. This year the food was
provided free to plungers by The Greene Turtle and the Rams
Head tent was new with adult beverages. This was in addition to
the main vendor tent where all kinds of food and merchandise
was available. We are sure there were many Maple Lawn businesses and people represented. Everyone had a chilly day and
will be talking about it for years.
The white hair in the picture isn’t due to age, but the raging snowstorm that was part of this year’s plunge. The temperature at
plunge time was about 24 degrees and the water was in the high
30’s. A brisk day to say the least.
If you are an employee at Maple
Lawn, please do not park in spaces
marked “visitor”; or the spaces along
the curbs around the office buildings
or retail. Please leave these spaces
for our customers so that they can get
in and out of our businesses as easily
as possible.
No Smoking notices will be up on the
buildings in two weeks. Employees are
not to smoke within 15 feet of the entrance. This is a County ordinance.

Last Opportunity! NVHomes’ Maple
Lawn Luxury Garage Townhomes Selling Fast – Just 6 Remain in Phase One,
Each Expected to be Eligible for the
Federal Tax Credit! Still from Only the
Mid $400’s!
Since debuting last June, NVHomes’ initial offering of 37
grand, luxurious townhomes at Maple Lawn have sold very
quickly and NV has just announced that the final 6 townhomes are now available to closeout their first phase.
These final buyers should be able to take advantage of the
Federal government’s tax credit by purchasing now with expected June settlements. Economists and analysts do not
expect the government to extend the tax credits again. The
stimulus measure offers an $8,000 Federal tax credit to
first-time buyers, and a $6,500 tax credit to current homeowners looking to move-up.*

plan options. We have dedicated staff that
spend hours daily communicating with dental
insurances to maximize your benefits. We will
make all the insurance calls and submit all
pre-authorization's necessary to avoid any
unnecessary surprise bills. Below is a partial
listing of insurances we accept, with at least
10 years of participation with each of them
from our alternate location in Silver Spring. If
