Brethren,
I'm looking forward having a great 2015 at Prometheus. This year we have some great
events scheduled to increase membership, involvement, and fundraising activities. Events
include our Town Hall meeting in February.
This year Prometheus will hold more Meet-up events and we are planning of hosting a St.
John Feast in in June. Moreover, Prometheus will be hosting a Basketball game fundraiser.
Other fundraiser events will be Golf Tournament and BBQ Cook-off. If any brother has a
great idea for an activity or fundraiser please let us know we are open to new ideas.
One of our goal this year is to update our website and enter it in the Grand lodge awards. See
everyone at the Lodge in January.

Better Angels of Our Nature - 10 edition
by Michael A. Halleran
The first in-depth study of the Freemasons during the Civil War One of
the enduring yet little examined themes in Civil War lore is the
widespread belief that on the field of battle and afterward, members of
Masonic lodges would give aid and comfort to wounded or captured
enemy Masons, often at great personal sacrifice and danger. This work is
a deeply researched examination of the recorded, practical effects of
Freemasonry among Civil War participants on both sides. aid and

From the West
Greetings from the Sou.. err, I mean the West!
How exciting to be embarking on a brand new year with
such a fresh-faced and enthusiastic new line of officers.
At Prometheus lodge in 2015, masonry
will NOT a spectator sport! Each of
you should expect heavy pressure from
the West to participate in the ritual this
year by learning and performing new
parts. With that said, it is my pleasure
to announce a special challenge that I
am extending to each of our brothers- I
hereby challenge each of you to learn
and perform at least one new piece
ritual in 2015. The brother that learns and performs the
most new ritual in 2015 will win a prize awarded at the
end of year! I have created an online Google document
in order to maintain a current and accurate record of

which parts can be performed by each brother- please

learned a piece a ritual yet, I urge you
to pick a part that you like, learn it, and
get involved! If you are one of our
newer brothers, it need not be a
wordy or challenging role to begin with. Please get with

Greetings Brethren! Following the footsteps of Bro.
Nick, I would like to share some of the interesting reads
that I have come across. To start with I picked a book
that even influenced the writing of Star Wars!
The Hero With A Thousand Faces by
Joseph Campbell is a book based on
his study of comparative mythology –
the study of myths across cultures
separated by time and space and yet
filled with common themes. Since
early human cultures myths and
folklore have played an important role
in transmitting basic truths generously
applying the language of symbols and
allegories.
Of particular interest in this book is the
archetypical hero’s journey (monomyth) distilled from narratives across the world, the
author describes the typical stages of a hero’s
journey - 17 stages (starting with the “Call to
Adventure” and ending with “Freedom to Live”)
categorized into three groups – “Separation”,
“Initiation” and “Return.” To quote from the preface, “he
shows how the heroic self seeks an exacting spiritual
countenance, that is, a higher way of holding and
conducting oneself.”

Past Master’s Corner
Happy New Year Brethren, I hope all
of you had a wonderful Christmas and
a Happy New Year.
My hope this year is to start an
education class for those looking to
join and/or those going through the
degrees, so that we don’t have to
have those candidates and Brothers
leave. I plan to get with Chandler and Scottsdale Lodges,
which have similar programs, and adapt what they are
doing, as it seems they are have great success.
I can’t stress enough the importance of coming to Lodge
as often as you possibly can. You not only will make the
experience for the candidate more meaningful, there is
nothing more embarrassing then doing a degree for a
candidate and not having anyone there to help him with
his journey. Also, if you are at all interested in getting
into the Officer line, it will surely help you learn those
parts coming to lodge each meeting.
I look forward to being an active member of this Lodge
and helping and watching it grow. I see nothing
but exciting things for Prometheus in 2015 and
beyond.
I am the Editor of the Trestle board this year so if
you have an article or suggestions please let me
know, [email protected].

Thoughts of a
Mason’s Wife
How many wives of Masons have
ever given much thought?
To the wonderful biblical lessons
that Masonry has taught?
Have you asked yourself this
question, when you sit alone at
night,
While hubby is at Lodge: is my
reasoning straight and right?
I know the nights are lonely and
long, but this question comes to
me, “If my husband weren’t a
Mason, what kind of man would he
be?”
my husband weren’t a Mason, what
kind of man would he be?”
They call us Masonic Widows; I’ve
been one for many a year. I’ve
spoken my piece on lonely nights,
and berated hubby dear. But, then
again, I regret my words, and with
wisdom try to see, “If my husband
weren’t a Mason, what kind of man
would he be?
So I try to be a patient wife, as alone I
meditate, and see his point, as he
leaves for Lodge, with these words, “I
won’t be late!”
Some say that men make Masonry,
and this I understand, but, deep in
my heart I still maintain, “That
Masonry makes the man.”
I know nothing of their secret work,
but this much I understand that the
lessons taught in Masonry have
made a better man.
And as we journey the highway
together, to the inner things of life,
may their teachings go on
forever……….
So, ask yourself this question,
which has always come to me, “If
