Rabbi Menachem Gottesman Z"l, beloved Dean Emeritus of

Beth Jacob and of the greater Los Angeles community and
was the driving force behind the Jewish education of
generations of Jewish children who are forever in his debt.
As a community we offer our condolences to
his Rebbetzin Leiba and his entire family on their loss.
Beth Jacob has always been proud of the commitment its
members have had to Torah, to education, and to
perpetuating Jewish values. To no small degree, through his

UCLA alumni are invited to the home of Esther Kandel, 2129 Beverwil Dr. LA 90034, to unite and mobilize to combat anti-Semitism at
role at Hillel, Rabbi Gottesman deserves a great deal of credit
for our communal success in these areas. He was a visionary
leader, a powerful role model and a true educator to his core.
With Rabbi Gottesman's passing, a part of our family is gone
and a link in the chain of our history as a shul and as a
community has been broken. Yet at the same time, we are
heartened and inspired by the fact that the work to which he
dedicated his life has borne fruit many times over, and our
community owes its continued vibrancy and growth to his
legacy. We hope that this legacy will offer nechama
(consolation) to his family and we wish them strength through
this difficult time.
