GET SCREENED LA
children may need to update their screening as new
diseases may have become available for testing.
Jewish Genetic Disease Prevention Project
In association with Gene Test Now
Upcoming community screenings will be held on:
You have it in your hands to help prevent a next
generation of children born with potentially
devastating Jewish genetic diseases. As parents, grandparents,
friends and members of our Jewish
community, your voice and your action can help eradicate
these diseases.
Among Ashkenazi Jews, 1 in 4 is a carrier for at least 1 of the
19 diseases included in this screening. Among Sephardic/
Persian Jews, 1 in 3 is a carrier for at least 1 of the 8 diseases
included. If both partners are carriers for the same disease, there
is a 25% chance of having an affected child with each pregnancy. The good news is that these couples have more reproductive options than ever before. But to maximize the options,
carrier screening should be done prior to pregnancy.
Screening is very affordable with any California
insurance.
Share this information with everyone you care about, ages
18-50, who are thinking about having children now or in the
future. Even people who already have
