Al-Anews North Florida Area • District 7 • Panel 55 January 2015 Happy New Year! District 7 welcomes the New Year and a new Panel 55 to carry on the excellent work done by Panel 52. Al-Anon Information Service Chairperson VACANCIES Information Line Chairperson At this time each of the 4 hour blocks (8-12, 12-4, & 4-8) have a volunteer covering the shift. As outlined in our District 7 Service Position Guidelines this Chairperson organizes a committee of Al-Anon volunteers for the purpose of responding to telephone calls and emails for the purpose of responding to individuals seeking information about Al-Anon. Maintain a schedule of Al-Anon volunteers to respond to phone calls and emails in shifts from 8am - 8 pm. Provide training to new volunteers. Provide coverage for phone line and email volunteers who are unable to cover their shift Respond to requests from volunteers to handle phone calls or emails regarding unusual requests. Notify volunteers of any changes in meeting information provided by the Group Records Chairperson Attend Al-Anon Information Service (AIS) Chairperson meeting and District Meeting. Public Information Chairperson This Chairperson informs the general public through the media and other means of reaching the public directly about who we are, what we do and how to get in touch with us. Duties as outlined in the Al-Anon District 7 Service Position Guidelines. Form a committee of volunteers. Utilize The Best Practices of Public Outreach to develop suggested activities for reaching out to the public. Participate and exhibit at health fairs. Invite community leaders and media to open meetings. Distribute Al-Anon CAL and posters stamped with local contact phone number to public places (with permission of the facility. Contact local radio and television stations. Work closely with the Cooperating with the Professional Community (CPC), Institutions, and Alateen Chairpersons, as well as the North Florida Area Public Outreach Coordinator. Groups Representatives, please make this a priority at every meeting you attend. Like all our service positions it is vital in continuing to spread the Al-Anon message of hope.
