FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tiny, wearable and virtually weightless, first-of-its-kind iON
social imaging camera makes shooting and sharing a snap
“Instant-on” iON SnapCam lets you capture every moment, as it happens
LAS VEGAS (CES 2015, Central Hall Booth #15430), January 5, 2015 – iON Cameras
(Central Hall, booth # 15430), the company that pioneered Shoot/Share™ Wi-Fi
connectivity in point-of-view (POV) cameras, today unveiled SnapCam™, a first-of-its kind,
wearable social imaging camera. Just 1.5 inches square and weighing a little more than
one ounce, the iON SnapCam connects wirelessly to a smartphone to make it easy to shoot
and share high-definition (HD) videos and 8 MP photos—even live-stream video—
anywhere and anytime.
If you’ve ever been frustrated by the number of steps it takes to capture videos and photos
on your smartphone today and have missed important moments as a result, SnapCam is
for you. To shoot video with a smartphone, you have to turn it on and unlock it, open the
camera app, activate the video setting, and then hit the record button. With SnapCam, you
can be shooting video or taking photos in less than a second.
SnapCam’s unique proprietary design—incorporating a powerful OmniVision processor—
allows it to spring to life with a simple swipe of the finger. The camera is ready when you
are; all on one charge. With an incredible seven-day standby time, SnapCam is always
ready to capture the moment, whenever it occurs.
SnapCam attaches directly onto clothing, hats, gear or backpacks via a sturdy clip or
magnet, providing greater flexibility than with traditional bulky action cameras in plastic
cases. Small and discreet, SnapCam is barely noticeable. Equipped with both Wi-Fi and

Bluetooth powered by Broadcom Corporation, the SnapCam wirelessly connects to a
smartphone so videos and photos can be uploaded instantly and immediately shared.
“Today’s consumers are always ‘on the go’ and definitely always connected. SnapCam lets
them capture and share their lives as they’ve never been able to before…instantly and
immediately,” said iON Cameras CEO Giovanni Tomaselli. “SnapCam is the first camera
that effectively becomes an extension of the smartphone. It is tiny but powerful, making it
simple for anyone to capture and share moments as they happen, with a simple swipe and
tap.”
A single tap on the SnapCam captures a high-resolution (8 megapixel) image. A double tap
starts high-definition video recording at 720p/30-frames-per-second resolution. Three taps
activates live video streaming. Tapping the camera once more stops it from shooting.
Videos and photos are saved directly to the micro-SD card or to your smart device via
Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
The iON SnapCam app makes controlling all functions a snap. You can save and upload
videos and photos to the cloud, or share them via social apps such as Facebook or
Instagram. With a single charge, SnapCam can shoot 5,000 photos in time-lapse mode, or
record two hours of video, or deliver approximately one hour of live streaming, all with an
incredible seven days of stand-by time. SnapCam stores it all onto a MicroSD card up to 32
gigabytes.
The SnapCam brushed metal camera body comes in gunmetal grey, black or white and can
be customized with colorful bumpers for added personalization. Suggested retail price is
$149.99.
iON is also unveiling the SnapCam Lite (suggested retail: $79.99), which offers similar
features but without wireless connectivity.
