Number of Cameras
(Will usually match # of cameras above)
Please refer to the following section before entering the number of cameras.
AIRSHIP INDUSTRIES, INC. 345 - 118TH AVE SE, STE 120, BELLEVUE, WA 98005

5. There are four possible scenarios that will determine the value that should be entered into the
Number of Cameras field. Each scenario is described below. Please choose the one that matches
your installation. An EMS template will still need to be available that matches the camera and
channel count entered in order to sucessfully add the DVR to EMS.
A. Using Analog Cameras Only (This is the most common configuration.)
If the DVR has only analog devices attached, then the channel count and camera count will be
the same. The same value should be in both the Number of Channel and Number of Camera
fields.
B. Using Analog Cameras, but also using hide-half to record in 4CIF/30FPS on all channels. Only
applicable with DS-40XX series encoder cards.
In this configuration, the number of cameras is HALF the number of physical encoder channels.
Enter half the number of encoder channels (8, 16, 32, 48, or 64) in the Number of Cameras field.
(i.e. for 16 channels, enter 8 cameras, or for 32 channels, enter 16 cameras, etc.)
C. Using IP Devices only and no analog channels (i.e. an NVR system)
If there are no analog cameras connected to the AIRSHIP server, the value in the channels field
will be 0, and the value entered into the camera field should also be 0. When an NVR is
managed by EMS, IP cameras should only be added to the NVR through the EMS server.
Please note an EMS template with 0 cameras and 0 channels will still be needed to add an NVR
to EMS. Also be aware that the camera username and password IS REQUIRED when adding IP
cameras devices.
D. Using both Analog and IP Devices (Hybrid server)
If both Analog cameras and IP cameras will be used, verify the number of analog channels, and
enter the number of analog cameras only. (Similar to Scenario A above). IP cameras are then
added to the DVR through the EMS server.
