From the PCUSA website, “Per capita is a fundamental way in which all of the nearly 11,000 congregations and mid councils of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) are connected and participate in the work of the wider church.” Per capita makes it possible for Presbyterians to govern ourselves the way we do and makes possible our effort for visible unity of the church of Jesus Christ. Annually, an amount is determined to be needed to support functions of the General Assembly ($7.07), Synod ($3.25) and Presbytery ($18.50) totally: $28.82. Each church is assessed this amount per member and is required to pay. We ask each member to prayerfully consider paying this amount, over-and-above their estimate of giving, as a member of MAPC. Envelopes will be provided for this or simply indicate on your check or pew envelope that your offering is for 2015 Per Capita. For 2014, we received a total of $1,289.04; 29% of our share to Presbytery which is $4,573.32. ENVELOPES AND NUMBERS, OH MY! As we begin a new year of giving time, talents and money, the folks who count the latter are seeking to improve our process. It would be very helpful if you could put your envelope number on the Upper Left Corner of your check if you have given a check. If cash, please put on the outside of the envelope. How do you know your number? Please see the list on the table by the envelope packets at the top of the stairs. No, you do not have to use an envelope; many do not. Putting your number on the check will help with the data entry into our software. Thanks for all your many gifts including this little one if you choose to utilize it!
