We will handle your bid like you would if you were sitting in the stands yourself. Your complete satisfaction is guaranteed. Our sale will also be broadcast live on DVAuction, which also offers real-time and proxy bidding options. For information, contact Justin Dikoff at (605) 290-0635 or [email protected]. Genetic Testing All cattle in the sale that are suspect by pedigree for any known genetic defects have been determined free by DNA testing. Lots 1, 2, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 14, 22, 33, 46, 47, 48, 52, 68, 70, 75, 78, 79, 82, 87, 90, 113, 133, 175 and 176 have had the Zoetis 50K analysis. Performance Data The performance information, with the exception of the 365-day weights, has been calculated through the Angus Herd Improvement Records (AHIR) program of the American Angus Association. These are official numbers from the organization’s Sire Summary (as of Dec. 19, 2014). At the time of printing, most of the bulls didn’t fit the age parameters to process adjusted yearling weights through AHIR. Projected yearling weights noted were calculated using the American Angus Association’s yearling weight formula. There will be a supplement sheet available on sale day with ultrasound data and scrotal measurements. Health Dr. Pat Bierman of Mandan Veterinary Clinic will be on hand to write interstate health certificates for those requiring them. All cattle have had a complete vaccination program. Delivery We are offering free delivery on all bulls within a 500-mile radius and to Canadian points-of-entry on Canadian-purchased bulls. For bulls going beyond 500 miles and for all females, we will help coordinate delivery to get the cattle to you as economically as we can. Feeding Arrangements We are offering free keep on the bulls until April 1, after which time we will start deliveries. If you decide to take your bull home within three days of the sale, we will give you $100 off your bull. Free keep and free delivery do not apply to the females in the sale. Liability The Chad and Julie Ellingson family assumes no liability for accidents or injuries that occur on the sale premises. 33 Advance has quickly earned his spot as one of the up-and-coming calving-ease sires in the Angus breed. His ability to consistently sire light-birthweight calves with excellent calf vigor has made him one of the real rancher-friendly young sires. He has been used with great results on registered and commercial heifers. He has extra width for a calving-ease sire. This is compounded with flawless structure and backed by a highly productive dam. He is a perfect fit for our breeding objectives and, therefore, is earning a significant role in our breeding program. We own Advance with Lindskov-Thiel Ranch, Genex and Koupal Angus. He is the standout EPD profile bull in the offering. We expect him to be a calvingease bull, yet sire plenty of pounds. His greatest asset, though, may be the functional females he will produce. He has been a standout since early summer. He is a wide-stanced bull with excellent scrotal development, perfect structure and an ideal Angus head. His 2-year-old dam is an ideal-sized female from the established Emblynette family. She is a structurally flawless cow that combines elite production and longevity. His broody granddam has produced two top young females in our herd. Stagecoach’s pedigree and phenotype allow for multiple mating opportunities for virgin heifers and cows. He will be one of the top calvingease prospects to sell in 2015. This Advance son is double-bred calving ease with Advance and Scotsman giving him a headstart at becoming a superb heifer bull. He is out of a moderate-framed Scotsman dam with tremendous feet and udder quality. His grandmother was extremely productive, raising a calf at the top nearly every year. We remember four cattlemen who were laid to rest in 2014 and who will always have a special place in our hearts. John S. Haider, 73, passed away Dec. 4, 2014, at CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck, N.D. A Solen, N.D., native, John and his wife Judy ranched just down the road from us. John’s life was ranching, and blue roan horses and Angus cattle were his pride and joy. John was an easy-going and hardworking man and was fun to listen to, as he had a distinctive German accent. He was a particularly special friend to our son, Jameson. The pair spent many hours together talking about crops and equipment. Anton “Tony” Schaff, 84, passed away April 23, 2014, at his home in Mandan, N.D. Tony is Julie’s uncle. Over his career, Tony served in the army, farmed and ranched and worked as a salesman for Mandan Supply. He also was an entrepreneur, starting his own homebuilding business and horse and stock trailer dealership. He was twice recognized as the Triggs Dealer of the Year and designed a heavy-duty trailer line called the Boss Trailer. He loved to visit and was a good landlord. Thomas “Tom” Hudgins, 71, passed away Nov. 26, 2014, at his home in McEwen, Tenn., after an extended illness. Tom was retired as the co-owner of the former Alman Construction Company. After retirement, he owned and operated T&S Farms, raising Angus and Charolais cattle along with his wife Donna. Tom was a customer and a friend. Our family had the privilege of visiting the couple in August at their Canadian island home. Tom treated our kids to many fishing excursions and never complained when he had to untangle our fishing lines or bait and rebait our hooks. Richard M. “Dick” Tokach, 82, passed away Nov. 9, 2014, at Sanford Continuing Care Center off Sunset in Mandan, N.D. Dick and his wife Theresa established Tokach Angus Ranch east of St. Anthony, just 5 miles from us. Dick was a good neighbor, not to mention a steward of the land, a caretaker of livestock and a man of integrity. He believed in public service and served many roles – from state representative and county commissioner to North Dakota Stockmen’s Association president and North Dakota Beef Commission chairman – to make the world a better place for others. Ellingson Angus 2015 Production Sale Catalog 7 The Earnan progeny were extremely popular in our 2014 production sale and many sales across America. His ability to inject extra performance into his progeny is almost unmatched. If you are seeking bulls that will add payweight to your calfcrop and that have excellent conversion in the feedlot, then the Earnan sons will meet your objectives. He ranks as one of the top $B bulls in the breed. Judging by the Earnan bred heifers we have and his top-producing dam, we have great confidence in his maternal genetics too. He stands extremely wide at his base and carries that through his chest floor with extra vertical dimension through his rib cage to flank. He has the potential to change the genetic excellence of a herd in one generation. He brings the performance of his renowned sire with the extra fleshing ability of his cow family in an optimum frame score. He will sire calves that possess extra muscle and scale-pounding performance and profitoriented females that keep ranchers in business. Roughrider’s dam solidifies the confidence we have in this young herdsire. She is featured as Lot 191, the half-interest female that we will begin flushing with our new partner. She is a powerhouse with the structural soundness that we strive to incorporate into our breeding plan. Moreover, she records a birth ratio of 5/98, a nursing ratio of 5/109 and a yearling ratio of 2/102. She is a maternal sister to the $30,000 Ellingson Dominance purchased in 2013 by Genex, Sprunk Angus of Chaffee, N.D., and Carstens Farms of Adair, Iowa, and the $25,000 Ellingson True Grit purchased in 2014 by Talkington Angus of Belfield, N.D., and Meyer Ranch of Richardton, N.D. Luciana was a trooper – working alongside the ranch crew in the dead of winter to learn about the cattle industry. It was approximately 30-below on the day she arrived; it was approximately 110 degrees when she left home! This was a wonderful opportunity to learn about one another’s beef industry and culture. Whether you are a commercial or purebred breeder, I am confident you will find bulls in this offering that will be as powerful and as expressive in their performance as any bulls selling in 2015.
