Best of Breed Competition
The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition: Dogs that are Champions of
Record. Dogs which according to their owners records have completed the requirements for a championship but whose
championships are unconfirmed. The entry and showing of dogs whose championships are unconfirmed is limited to a period
of 90 days from the date of the show where a dog completed the requirements for a championship according to the owner’s
records. If, at the end of the 90 day period, the championship of a dog has not been confirmed by AKC, no further entries of
the dog for Best of Breed competition are to be made until its championship has been confirmed by AKC.
Select
When quality warrants, after BOB and BOS are awarded, a Select Dog (SD) and Select Bitch (SB) may be chosen from the
remaining Champions (Non Regular Class winners that are Champions and Qualify for BOB are eligible) - (WD or WB are
not eligible) (AKC Dog Show Rules, Chapter 3, Section 14 Effective 5-12-10)
Awards of Merit
At the conclusion of the Specialty Show, after picking Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex the Specialty Judge, at their
discretion, may award Rosettes for Judge’s Awards of Merit to a maximum of 10% of the Best of Breed Entry.
Amateur Owner Handler Eligibility
For dogs that are at least six months of age that are not champions. Dogs must be handled in the class by the registered
owner of the dog and is limited to exhibitors who have not, at any point in time, been a professional handler, AKC approved
conformation judge, or employed as an assistant to a professional handler. Additionally, members of the immediate family or
household of a current professional handler are ineligible for this class (as defined in Chapter 11, Section 13). Professional
handlers are defined as any person who belongs to a professional handlers’ organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise
advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay.
Best Bred - By Exhibitor and BBE Eligibility
All dogs entered in the Bred-By Class must be individually registered with the AKC. The person handling the dog must be a
breeder of record of the dog and an owner of record of the dog. Family members must be both a breeder and owner of record
to exhibit in the class. Any entry in the Bred-by-Exhibitor classes that is awarded Best of Breed or Best of Winners would
automatically be Best Bred-by-Exhibitor. Only the dog or bitch not defeated in Bred-by-Exhibitor are eligible for the Best Bredby-Exhibitor competition.
Best Puppy
Any entry in the puppy classes that is awarded Best of Breed or Best of Winners would automatically be Best Puppy.
Only dogs not defeated in a puppy class are eligible for Best Puppy competition.
Best Veteran Competition
Following the conclusion of Best of Breed and the Judge’s Awards of Merit the undefeated winners
of Veteran Dog and Veteran Bitch classes will compete for Best Veteran
Non - Regular Classes Involving Single Dog Entries
Veteran Dogs, 7 Years & Under 9 Years
Veteran Bitches, 7 Years and Under 9 years
Veteran Dogs, 9 Years & Over
Veteran Bitches, 9 Years & Over
Neutered Dogs and Spayed Bitches may compete in the Veterans Classes only at independent specialties and by virtue of
winning the class may compete for Best of Breed. (AKC Dog Show Rules, Chapter 14, Section 8.)
Non - Regular Classes Involving Multiple Dog Entries
Stud Dog Class – For dogs that have sired two dogs or bitches entered in t his show. The award will be based on the merits
of the get. The owner of the stud dog need not be the owner of the get. As the judges decision in this class will be based on
the merits of more than one dog or bitch, no one dog or bitch making up the entry judged first in the class, will be eligible to
compete for Best of Breed by virtue of having won this class. The Stud Dog must appear in the ring with his get and be
entered in the Stud Dog Class.
Brood Bitch Class – For bitches that have whelped two dogs or bitches entered in t his show. The award will be based on
the merits of the get. The owner of the brood bitch need not be owner of the get. As the judges decision in this class will be
based on the merits of more than one dog or bitch, no one dog or bitch making up the entry judged first in the class, will be
eligible to compete for Best of Breed by virtue of having won this class. The Brood Bitch must appear in the ring with his get
and be entered in the Brood Bitch Class.
Brace Class - For two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels (a unit) irrespective of sex, with at leas one common owner and
shown in the ring with no more than two handlers. Dogs may be entered in another class or for brace class only. The dogs
comprising the brace must be named in the time of entry. Full particulars must be given for each dog on the individual entry
form. If a dog that is to be part of a brace is entered in another class and entered as part of a brace, specialty “Brace Class”
in the Addition Classes section of the entry form. If a dog is not entered in another class, specify “Brace Class Only” in the
Dog Show Class section of the entry form.

REQUIREMENTS AND CLASSES
Sweepstakes is open to all Cavalier King Charles Spaniels that are at least 6 months of age and under 18
months of age on the day of the show. Champions of Record are not eligible. Sweepstakes will be judged prior
to the regular Specialty show. Dogs shown in Sweepstake must also be entered in one of the regular classes
in the Specialty Show, at the regular entry fee, and on the regular entry form indicate your Sweepstakes class
with the age division in the space provided by “Additional Class”.

JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP COMPETITION
RULES EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 8, 2011
AKC Junior Handler Numbers are assigned by AKC and required for entry in AKC Events.
The Junior Handler Number may be obtained by calling the American Kennel Club (919) 816-3776
NOVICE - This class shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who at the times of
entries close have not won three (3) first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show.
JUNIOR - This class shall be for boys or girls who are at least 9 years old and under 12 years old on the day of the show.
INTERMEDIATE - This class shall be for boys or girls who are at least 12 years old and under 15 years old on day of the show.
SENIOR - This class shall be for boys or girls who are at least 15 years old and under 18 years old on the day of show.
OPEN - This class shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show, who have won 3 first place
awards in a Novice Class in a licensed or member show, with competition present. The winner of a Novice Class shall automatic ally become eligible,
upon notice to the Open Class ring steward, to enter and compete in the Open Class a the same show provided the win is the (3 rd) first place award
with competition and further providing there are one or more Junior Handlers competing in the Open Class.
JUNIOR - This class shall be for boys or girls who are at least 9 years old and under 12 years old on the day of the show.
INTERMEDIATE - This class shall be for boys or girls who are at least 12 years old and under 15 year sold on day of the show.
SENIOR - This class shall be for boys or girls who are at least 15 years old and under 18 years old on the day of show.
MASTER- This class will be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years on the day of the show, and who have won the 10 first
place wins in an Open class with competition to be eligible to enter the Limited Class Competition. The calendar for this class will be consistent with
the eligibility dates for the AKC Eukanuba National Championship. All Juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class
and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed all participants
return to the Open Class to complete for the following year.
BEST JUNIOR HANDLER: A club offering Junior Showmanship may offer a prize for Best Junior Handler. The prize must be described in the
Premium List. The Junior Handler place first in each or the regular Junior Showmanship Classes, if undefeated in any other Junior Showmanship
Class at that show, shall automatically be eligible to compete for this prize.
JUNIOR HANDLERS who win a third Novice Class after the Closing of entries for a show may transfer their entry from the Novice Class to the Open
Class provided that this transfer is made by the Show Secretary at least one-half hour prior to the scheduled start of the earliest conformation judging
or one-half hour prior to the scheduled start of Junior Showmanship judging at the Show, whichever is earlier.
PLEASE NOTE: Juniors must include their AKC Junior Handler number on the entry blank. Be sure all information for Junior Showmanship Classes is
entered on the front and back of the entry form. Dogs shown in Junior Showmanship may have Full or Limited AKC registration or have an ILP/PAL
number. Altered animals are eligible to be shown, but bitches in season are not eligible.

AGREEMENT
I (we) acknowledge that the “Rules Applying to Registration and Dog Shows” and, if this entry is for an
Obedience Trial, the “Obedience Regulations,” have been made available to me (us), and that I am (we are)
familiar with their contents. I (we) agree that the club holding this show or obedience trial has the right to refuse
this entry for cause which the club shall deem to be sufficient. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry
and of the holding of the show or obedience trial and of the opportunity to have the dog judged and to win prize
money, ribbons, or trophies, I (we) agree to hold this club, its members, directors, governors, officers, agents,
superintendents or show secretary and the owners or lessor of the premises and any employees of the
aforementioned parties, harmless from any claims for loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused
directly or indirectly to any person or thing by the act of this dog while in or upon the show or obedience trial
premises or grounds or near any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and liability
for any such claim; and I (we) further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss
of this dog by disappearance, theft, death or otherwise, and from any claim for damage or injury to the dog,
whether such loss, disappearance, theft, damage or injury, be caused or alleged to be caused by the negligence
of the club or any of the parties aforementioned, or by the negligence of any other person, or any other cause or
causes.
I (we) hereby assume the sole responsibility for and agree to indemnify and save the aforementioned parties
harmless from any and all loss and expense (including legal fees) by reason of the liability imposed by law upon
any of the aforementioned parties for damage because of bodily injuries, including death at any time resulting
therefrom, sustained by any person or persons, including myself (ourselves), or on account of damage to
property, arising out of or in consequence of my (our) participation in this show or obedience trial, howsoever
such injuries death or damage to property may be caused, and whether or not the same may have been caused
or may be alleged to have been caused by negligence of the aforementioned parties or any of their employees
or agents, or any other persons. I (we) AGREE THAT ANY CAUSE OF ACTION, CONTROVERSY OR CLAIM
ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE ENTRY, EXHIBITOR OR ATTENDANCE AT THE EVENT BETWEEN THE AKC AND THE EVENT GIVING CLUB (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED IN ITS PREMIUM

INSTRUCTIONS
1.(Variety) if you are entering a dog of a breed in which there are varieties for show purposes, please designate the particular
variety you are entering, i.e., Cocker Spaniel (solid color black, ASCOB, parti-color), Beagles (not exceeding 13 in. over 13 in.
but not exceeding 15 in.), dachshunds (longhaired, smooth, wirehaired), Collies (rough, smooth), Bull Terriers (colored ,White),
Manchester Terriers (standard, toy), Chihuahuas (smooth coat, long coat), English Toy Spaniels (King Charles and Ruby,
Blenheim and Prince Charles), Poodles (toy, miniature, standard).
2.The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition: Dogs that are Champions of
Record and dogs which, according to their owners’ record, have completed the requirements for a championship, but whose
championships are unconfirmed. The showing of unconfirmed Champions in Best of Breed competition is limited to a period of
90 days from the date of the show where the dog completed the requirement for a championship.
3.(Dog Show Class). Consult the classification in this premium list. If the dog show class in which you are entering your dog i s
divided, then, in addition to designating the class, specify the particular division of the class in which you are entering your dog,
i.e., age division, color division, weight division.
4.A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for a show closed. If a registere d
dog has been acquired by a new owner, it must be entered in the name of its new owner in any show for which entries closed
after the date of acquirement, regardless of whether the new owner has received the registration certificate indicating that the
dog is recorded in his name. State on entry form whether transfer application has been mailed to AKC (For compete rule refer to
Chapter 11, Section 3).

POST DATED AND RETURNED CHECKS do not constitute a valid entry fee. The Show Secretary will add a collection fee to
the amount of each returned check. The returned check MUST BE MADE GOOD by cash or money order BEFORE the dog (s)
will be allowed in the ring. Any person that issues a check that is returned for non-payment, will be required to pay a fine of $25.00
per check and all items with which check or checks were issued shall then be paid by cash, money, or cashier’s check.
CONDITIONAL, UNSIGNED, INCOMPLETE ENTRIES received without fees will not be accepted.
OWNERS ARE RESPONSIBLE for errors on entry blanks and for entering the same dog twice. No refunds for duplicate entries.

CHANGES, ADDITIONS, CORRECTIONS OR CANCELLATIONS to entry forms must be received in writing by U.S.Mail,
or by FAX , Signed and Dated by Owner or Agent prior to the close of entries. Not acceptable by Telephone.
ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED with required entry fee on an Official American Kennel Club Entry Form. Entries
submitted in the form of telegrams or by telephone, cannot be accepted.
ENTRY FEES SHALL NOT BE REFUNDED in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Judge, or barred from
competition by action of the show committee, or because the dog is ineligible to compete due to being entered incorrectly. There is
no refund of entries fees for duplicate entry or overpayment of entry fees. If because of riots, civil disturbances, fire or extreme
dangerous weather conditions, an Act of God, public emergency, act of a public enemy, strikes or other acts beyond the control of
the Club or Show Secretary it is impossible to open or complete the show, no refund of entry fee will be made.
ONLY DOGS THAT ARE ELIGIBLE to be shown under the American Kennel Club rules shall be allowed on the show grounds
and dogs excused from further judging are to be removed promptly.
ALL DOGS SHALL BE held on leash or confined to their crates, except when being judged or when being exercised.
THERE SHALL BE NO drilling nor intensive or corrective training of dogs on the show grounds or premises.
DOGS MUST BE READY FOR JUDGING. The Club and its Show Secretary will not be responsible and are not obligated to
furnish any service for notifying exhibitors or their agents of breed or class judging. Judges will not wait for any dog holding up a
class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings.
DOGS NEED TO BE AT THE SHOW only at scheduled time for judging and may leave immediately thereafter, unless required
for further judging.
THE CLUB reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value,
ALL TROPHIES must be claimed the day of the show. None will be mailed or otherwise distributed.
CLASS CASH PRIZES will be paid in the ring to the persons showing the dog. Claims for prize money must be made in the ring
before the judging of that Breed is over and the Show Secretary’s Office is advised at once. The Show Secretary and Show giving
Club disclaim any liability for cash prizes after the judging of the Breed is over.
THE WELFARE OF AN EXHIBITOR’S CHILD is assumed to be the responsibility of the exhibitor. It is distinctly understood
that exhibitors will exercise control and restraint over their children on the day of the show. For everyone’s safety, no baby strollers
or wheeled child carriers are allowed on the show grounds.
ALL PERSONS ATTENDING THIS DOG SHOW hereby waive any claim for damages against CAVALIER KING
CHARLES SPANIEL CLUB OF CENTRAL ARIZONA, INC., its members, or agents, in the event a motor vehicle must enter
to rescue a dog from overheating or suffocation due to improper ventilation.
CAVALIER KING CHARLES SPANIEL CLUB OF CENTRAL ARIZONA, INC. ITS SHOW SECRETARIES, THEIR
AGENTS, EMPLOYEES, ETC. WILL USE DUE CARE AND DILIGENCE FOR THE WELFARE OF DOGS AND
EXHIBITORS, BUT WILL ASSUME NO RESPONSIBLITY FOR ANY LOSS, DAMAGE OR INJURY SUSTAINED BY
EXHIBITORS, HANDLERS, OR TO ANY OF THIER DOGS OR PROPERTY PARTICIPATING IN THESE SHOWS,
AND FURTHER ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR INJURY TO CHILDREN AT THESE SHOWS.
ANY EXHIBITOR OR PERSON in their employ found to be littering or failing to clean-up after their dogs will be brought before
the event committee.
EXHIBITORS should follow their veterinarian’s recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites,
any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations.
NO DOG SHALL BE LEFT UNATTENDED IN ANY CLOSED VEHICLE
