Dogs which according to their owners records have completed the requirements for a championship but whose championships are unconfirmed. The entry and showing of dogs whose championships are unconfirmed is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where a dog completed the requirements for a championship according to the owner’s records. If, at the end of the 90 day period, the championship of a dog has not been confirmed by AKC, no further entries of the dog for Best of Breed competition are to be made until its championship has been confirmed by AKC. Select When quality warrants, after BOB and BOS are awarded, a Select Dog (SD) and Select Bitch (SB) may be chosen from the remaining Champions (Non Regular Class winners that are Champions and Qualify for BOB are eligible) - (WD or WB are not eligible) (AKC Dog Show Rules, Chapter 3, Section 14 Effective 5-12-10) Awards of Merit At the conclusion of the Specialty Show, after picking Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex the Specialty Judge, at their discretion, may award Rosettes for Judge’s Awards of Merit to a maximum of 10% of the Best of Breed Entry. Amateur Owner Handler Eligibility For dogs that are at least six months of age that are not champions. Dogs must be handled in the class by the registered owner of the dog and is limited to exhibitors who have not, at any point in time, been a professional handler, AKC approved conformation judge, or employed as an assistant to a professional handler. Additionally, members of the immediate family or household of a current professional handler are ineligible for this class (as defined in Chapter 11, Section 13). Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs to a professional handlers’ organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay. Best Bred - By Exhibitor and BBE Eligibility All dogs entered in the Bred-By Class must be individually registered with the AKC. The person handling the dog must be a breeder of record of the dog and an owner of record of the dog. Family members must be both a breeder and owner of record to exhibit in the class. Any entry in the Bred-by-Exhibitor classes that is awarded Best of Breed or Best of Winners would automatically be Best Bred-by-Exhibitor. Only the dog or bitch not defeated in Bred-by-Exhibitor are eligible for the Best Bredby-Exhibitor competition. Best Puppy Any entry in the puppy classes that is awarded Best of Breed or Best of Winners would automatically be Best Puppy. Only dogs not defeated in a puppy class are eligible for Best Puppy competition. Best Veteran Competition Following the conclusion of Best of Breed and the Judge’s Awards of Merit the undefeated winners of Veteran Dog and Veteran Bitch classes will compete for Best Veteran Non - Regular Classes Involving Single Dog Entries Veteran Dogs, 7 Years & Under 9 Years Veteran Bitches, 7 Years and Under 9 years Veteran Dogs, 9 Years & Over Veteran Bitches, 9 Years & Over Neutered Dogs and Spayed Bitches may compete in the Veterans Classes only at independent specialties and by virtue of winning the class may compete for Best of Breed. (AKC Dog Show Rules, Chapter 14, Section 8.) Non - Regular Classes Involving Multiple Dog Entries Stud Dog Class – For dogs that have sired two dogs or bitches entered in t his show. The award will be based on the merits of the get. The owner of the stud dog need not be the owner of the get. As the judges decision in this class will be based on the merits of more than one dog or bitch, no one dog or bitch making up the entry judged first in the class, will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed by virtue of having won this class. The Stud Dog must appear in the ring with his get and be entered in the Stud Dog Class. Brood Bitch Class – For bitches that have whelped two dogs or bitches entered in t his show. The award will be based on the merits of the get. The owner of the brood bitch need not be owner of the get. As the judges decision in this class will be based on the merits of more than one dog or bitch, no one dog or bitch making up the entry judged first in the class, will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed by virtue of having won this class. The Brood Bitch must appear in the ring with his get and be entered in the Brood Bitch Class. Brace Class - For two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels (a unit) irrespective of sex, with at leas one common owner and shown in the ring with no more than two handlers. Dogs may be entered in another class or for brace class only. The dogs comprising the brace must be named in the time of entry. Full particulars must be given for each dog on the individual entry form. If a dog that is to be part of a brace is entered in another class and entered as part of a brace, specialty “Brace Class” in the Addition Classes section of the entry form. The Junior Handler Number may be obtained by calling the American Kennel Club (919) 816-3776 NOVICE - This class shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who at the times of entries close have not won three (3) first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. JUNIOR - This class shall be for boys or girls who are at least 9 years old and under 12 years old on the day of the show. INTERMEDIATE - This class shall be for boys or girls who are at least 12 years old and under 15 years old on day of the show. SENIOR - This class shall be for boys or girls who are at least 15 years old and under 18 years old on the day of show. OPEN - This class shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show, who have won 3 first place awards in a Novice Class in a licensed or member show, with competition present. The winner of a Novice Class shall automatic ally become eligible, upon notice to the Open Class ring steward, to enter and compete in the Open Class a the same show provided the win is the (3 rd) first place award with competition and further providing there are one or more Junior Handlers competing in the Open Class. JUNIOR - This class shall be for boys or girls who are at least 9 years old and under 12 years old on the day of the show. INTERMEDIATE - This class shall be for boys or girls who are at least 12 years old and under 15 year sold on day of the show. SENIOR - This class shall be for boys or girls who are at least 15 years old and under 18 years old on the day of show. MASTER- This class will be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years on the day of the show, and who have won the 10 first place wins in an Open class with competition to be eligible to enter the Limited Class Competition. The calendar for this class will be consistent with the eligibility dates for the AKC Eukanuba National Championship. All Juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed all participants return to the Open Class to complete for the following year. BEST JUNIOR HANDLER: A club offering Junior Showmanship may offer a prize for Best Junior Handler. The prize must be described in the Premium List. The Junior Handler place first in each or the regular Junior Showmanship Classes, if undefeated in any other Junior Showmanship Class at that show, shall automatically be eligible to compete for this prize. JUNIOR HANDLERS who win a third Novice Class after the Closing of entries for a show may transfer their entry from the Novice Class to the Open Class provided that this transfer is made by the Show Secretary at least one-half hour prior to the scheduled start of the earliest conformation judging or one-half hour prior to the scheduled start of Junior Showmanship judging at the Show, whichever is earlier. The showing of unconfirmed Champions in Best of Breed competition is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the dog completed the requirement for a championship. 3.(Dog Show Class). Consult the classification in this premium list. If the dog show class in which you are entering your dog i s divided, then, in addition to designating the class, specify the particular division of the class in which you are entering your dog, i.e., age division, color division, weight division. 4.A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for a show closed. If a registere d dog has been acquired by a new owner, it must be entered in the name of its new owner in any show for which entries closed after the date of acquirement, regardless of whether the new owner has received the registration certificate indicating that the dog is recorded in his name. The Club and its Show Secretary will not be responsible and are not obligated to furnish any service for notifying exhibitors or their agents of breed or class judging. Judges will not wait for any dog holding up a class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings. DOGS NEED TO BE AT THE SHOW only at scheduled time for judging and may leave immediately thereafter, unless required for further judging.
