TONIGHT’S MATCHUP
Tonight’s contest is the third of eight meetings this season between the Texas Stars and Iowa Wild. The Stars are currently
2-0-0-0 against the Wild this season, with both wins coming on home ice. The two West Division opponents are meeting for
the first time since Nov. 29, when the Stars topped the Wild, 4-3. Texas has won four of their last five games entering
tonight, and the Wild are playing .500-hockey over their last 10 games.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
For the Stars, Travis Morin returned from an NHL call-up on Monday and tallied a goal and an assist in his first game back
on Tuesday. The Wild are led offensively by Michael Keranen with 25 points (five goals, 20 assists) on the season.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Since Halloween, Jussi Rynnas has lost just once in regulation, going 7-1-3 since that point with an NHL call-up mixed in.
John Curry has been red hot for the Wild in net, going 5-1-0 over his last six games with a 1.78 GAA and a .947 SV%.
Johan Gustafsson gave up four goals and took the loss in his only meeting this year against Texas, a 4-3 loss on Nov. 29.

HONKA RETURNS FROM WORLD JUNIORS
Texas Stars defenseman Julius Honka had been competing for his native Finland in the World Junior Championships over
the past two weeks before returning to the Stars on Jan. 6 at Oklahoma City. Finland was eliminated in the Quarterfinal
round by Sweden. Honka finished with a goal and an assist in five games at the World Juniors.

DALLAS STARS, TEXAS STARS TRULY JOINED AT THE HIP
On Dec. 17, the NHL’s Dallas Stars completed their purchase of the AHL’s Texas Stars to assume ownership over their top
development affiliate. Texas has been the AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars since its inaugural season in 2009-10. Many of
the Dallas Stars’ young core of NHL players have spent time skating for Texas including captain Jamie Benn, center Cody
Eakin, forward Ryan Garbutt and forward Antoine Roussel.
STARS NEW COACHING STAFF
The Texas Stars debut a new coaching staff this season in Derek Laxdal and assistant Karl Taylor. Laxdal returns to the
Dallas Stars organization, where he spent five seasons as the head coach of the ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads and won the
2007 Kelly Cup. Laxdal spent the past four years as head coach of the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings, and won the CHL’s
2014 Memorial Cup. Former Stars head coach Willie Desjardins and assistant Doug Lidster both departed after the past
two seasons to take over for the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks.
THE LAST ORIGINAL STARS
Three players on this season’s Texas Stars roster remain from the team’s inaugural season. Maxime Fortunus, Travis
Morin and Greg Rallo all skated for the Stars in 2009-10. Fortunus and Morin have remained staples in the team’s lineup
over the past five seasons, while Rallo spent three years with the San Antonio Rampage and Florida Panthers before
returning to Texas this year.
