BIENVENUE!
On behalf of our organizing committee, staff, volunteers, partners and the
Baton Rouge community, I would like to welcome you to Rendezvous4, the
fourth annual Louisiana Marathon running festival.
Each year we grow closer to realizing our vision of Louisiana identified as the running state of the
South, with an internationally recognized winter race with thousands of participants. We are excited
Baton Rouge will be hosting runners from all 50 states and 9 countries who share our passion for our
culture of running, cuisine, music and art.
Whether you’re looking to qualify for Boston, run/walk the 5K or take on the Inaugural Quarter Marathon with your friends, we know you’ll be proud for pushing yourself and enjoy rolling with the good
times at the race weekend festivities.
The weekend also includes The BlueCross BlueShield of Louisiana Expo in an expanded space at the Baton
Rouge River Center and the two-day Finish Festival hosted by Abita on the grounds of the State Capitol.
This year, we welcome speakers from various fields in the running community to share in our Speaker
Series at the expo. We are especially excited to present Dave McGillivray, Boston Marathon Race Director and world-class athlete, at the annual Pastalaya Dinner on Saturday night.
Throughout the weekend, please thank our volunteers. Without them, this festival would not be possible.
Their dedication has allowed this event, as well as the yearlong outreach programs, to thrive. Also, let’s
acknowledge our neighbors who live along the course – their support adds the spice which makes our event
uniquely Louisiana. And as always, help us show appreciation for our valued sponsors, partners and expo
vendors. Their involvement contributes to the Louisiana experience and enables the event to succeed.
During the year, our race krewe is active in the community and on the road. We lead corporate lunchand-learns, make running club appearances, hit the expo circuit, and we listen. We learn from our
runners about ways to improve our event and to impact the health of those around us. Thank you for
engaging and sharing with us.

Thank you for joining us in Baton Rouge for the Fourth Annual Louisiana Marathon, a
three-day running festival weekend. If this is your first visit, I hope you’ll explore our
museums and cultural attractions while enjoying our great restaurants and live music
venues. Learn about Louisiana’s colorful political history at the Old State Capitol through
the Ghost of the Castle presentation. Visit the Louisiana Art and Science Museum,
Southern University’s Museum of Art or the Louisiana State Museum that boasts
everything from elaborate Mardi Gras costumes to a real shrimp boat. Then, step back
in time at Magnolia Mound Plantation or the Rural Life Museum where you can
experience unique 18th century life in Louisiana.
Our Mississippi River Levee Path is a convenient place to bike, jog or stroll along the
riverfront, where you can relax at our national award-winning Town Square. You’ll pass the
Shaw Center for the Arts, which features live entertainment, art exhibits, and the friendliest
people you will find anywhere. You might even happen upon one of our festivals or parades

Founded in 2011, the Louisiana Marathon is a nationally recognized, 3-day running

PUBLIC PARKING FOR THE EXPO
There’s plenty of street and garage parking for The BlueCross BlueShield of
Louisiana Expo near the Baton Rouge River Center. Parking is available at the River
Center parking garage. Flat rate and hourly rate garages and lots are nearby as
well as metered spaces. The City of Baton Rouge manages the Baton Rouge River
Center on St. Lewis Street. These parking garages can hold up to 1,300 vehicles.
PUBLIC PARKING FOR THE RACES AND FINISH FESTIVALS
Street and garage parking for race starts, finish lines and festivals can be found within
a few blocks of each other on North Street, Main Street and on the north side of the
Capitol -- off River Road and accessible from the Capitol Access Road exit off I-110. The
Galvez Garage will be open both days- free on Saturday and event rates on Sunday.
VIP PARKING
On Sunday, the VIPs who have purchased a Bayou or Cypress package receive free
parking at the Galvez Garage located on North Street and 6th. Attendants will be
instructed to let VIP patrons and runners park by showing their VIP credentials and by
showing a parking pass on his/her dashboard. These will be provided by the VIP liaison.

The BlueCross BlueShield of Louisiana Expo will be held at The Baton Rouge River
Center. The hours of operation are

Race-day packet pickup is not available. The expo is the only place to pick up a
registration packet.
Registered participants can confirm registration on our website. Participants need
a legal, photo ID. A printed copy of your confirmation is recommended to facilitate
packet pickup at the expo.
Proxy pickup, the process that allows someone other than the registered
participant to pick up a packet, is allowed as long as the friend or family member
presents a PRINTED copy of the participants and the proxy’s photo ID. There are
NO exceptions to this requirement.
LATE REGISTRATION
Late registration is available at the expo unless the race is a sell out. The Louisiana
Marathon will post a notice regarding closed races about a closed race on our
website, Facebook page and Twitter. Participants can register at the expo. A
designated table/booth for marked for Late Registration will be available. For more

Dave McGillivray is perhaps best known for his run across
the United States in 1978 for the Jimmy Fund of Boston,
when he ran a total of 3,452 miles in 80 days. For the past
26 years, he has been the Race Director for the B.A.A.
Boston Marathon. He also serves as Race Director for the
B.A.A. Half Marathon and 5K.
Rooster Rossiter // OPENING SPEAKER
Marine Rooster Rossiter is the Founder of Ainsley’s Angels of
America, which provides ride-alongs for people with disabilities
participating in athletic events. Since the organization was
founded in 2007, Ainsley’s Angels has expanded to eight
chapters in seven states, including Louisiana.

The Louisiana Marathon course features a fast, flat, runner-friendly path through the lakes, along the river, around
downtown, on the university campus and in historic neighborhoods. This year, due to construction at the Capitol,
the start will move a block closer to the Mississippi River in front of the Pentagon Barracks Museum.
Runners need to be in start corrals before the 6:50 am close time. Please adhere to courtesy corralling based on
expected finish times displayed by our Marathon Maniac and Half Fanatic pacers: elite runners take point before
the pacers. Competitive runners, weekend warriors and charity team runners follow suit. And fun runners/walkers
living the dream finish the parade.

SHOWCASE TENTS
The Showcase Tents highlight dishes serverd at other famous Louisiana festivals.
The Gonzales Jambalaya Festival will serve both Cajun and Creole Jambalaya. Cajun is the more
traditional, brownish Jambalaya, while Creole is more red in appearance and creamy in texture.
Kajun Kettle, makers of the much beloved festival favorites, will be serving two dishes:
White Beans and Rice and a Collard Greens special.
St. James Parish’s Uncle Larry Roussel will provide his famous Corn and Crab Soup.
Our friends at Greenheart/ Products of Peace have put together a cornucopia of vegan
dishes with a Louisiana twist: Vegan Red Beans and Rice with Field Roast sausage from
Alexander’s Highland Market, gluten-free beignets from Bibi’s Patisserie, Tofurky tasting
from GreenHeart’s booth and and many more ...
TASTE TOUR PASS WRISTBANDS // SEPARATE TICKETS PER RACE DAY
The Finish Festival is open to the public. For access to food and beverages, you must have
a Taste Tour Pass Wristband, a ticket, specific to that race-day. The wristband is free to
runners and attached to their bibs.
Additional Taste Tour Pass Wristbands can be purchased online, at the gear shop in the expo
or the gear tent at the festival entrance. These non-runner wristbands are good either day.
Last year, more than 24,000 runners, spectators, foodies and music lovers enjoyed the
two-day festival. This year, to ensure food is available for all runners, we are increasing
offerings at our showcase tents on Saturday and Sunday. We are also staggering the release
of restaurant food tents throughout each day.
Wristbands allow for 8 servings from either a food booth or beer truck - beer is only
available for adults 21 and over. Crave a serving of Jambalaya and a beer? That’ll be two
punches on your wristband. Two servings of Jambalaya, a serving of white beans and rice,
two beers, and a gluten-free beignet? That’s six punches. The wristband also provides a
choice of a Powerade or Dasani.
COURSE SAFETY ///////
EVENT ALERT SYSTEM (EAS)
The color-coded Event Alert System (EAS) status – ranging from Low (Green) to
Extreme (Black) based primarily on weather -- will be communicated by way of
public address announcements, digital notifications and color-coded signs/flags at
the Start/Finish Line and Aid Stations.
AID STATIONS & EMS
Medical personnel will be stationed at each aid station along the racecourse to
monitor and treat any athlete who is injured or in distress. Aid stations contain first
aid personnel, portable toilet facilities, water & GU Gel. Baton Rouge EMS will also
be providing medical support throughout the racecourse on both days.
MEDICAL SUPPORT
Each medical tent will be staffed with teams of medical professionals, and equipped
with emergency equipment and supplies. The Main Medical Tent is located just past
the Finish Line.
PERFORMANCE RECOVERY ZONE
The Performance Recovery Zone will be located after the Finish Line and near
the Finish Festival entrance. This recovery tent will be dedicated to treating nonemergency conditions (e.g., blisters, athletes in need of ice, etc.). The Medical Tent
at the Finish Line is only for serious medical issues. Only runners and spectators
requiring medical assistance may access designated medical areas.
FAMILY RELATIONS TENT
This tent is an area for family/friends to inquire about the health status of a
runner. Due to medical confidentiality, medical personnel cannot provide medical
information on a runner unless the runner provides oral permission for the
designated person(s) or if the runner has provided race organizers with emergency
contact person(s).

THE ARTIST
It is often said that greatness is forged through adversity,
and the rise of the talented young artist Christy WorksBoutte, exemplifies this philosophy. A childhood illness
led to Christy’s loss of hearing at the age of one. Many observers and critics of her work
attribute her rapid artistic maturity to this hearing loss and the many obstacles she had to
overcome.
Her love and passion for art grew while attending the world-renowned Ringling College of
Art & Design in Sarasota, Florida. There, she developed a strong artistic style, and in 2000,
became the school’s first deaf student to receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
All of Christy’s paintings continue to be works she states are “from my heart to yours.”
Christy’s love of vibrant colors and the ability to create harmony using thick oil paints has
become a trademark of her paintings. Being
chosen by her hometown –Gretna, Louisiana– as
the artist for the Gretna Heritage Festival is one
of the highlights of her career. She has enjoyed
creating the posters for the festival every year since
2003. Her distinctive style can be seen throughout
her work including her “Love That…” series, many
festival posters, variations on the Fleur de Lis, and
other New Orleans and Louisiana-inspired pieces.
