The Marine Grounding System SEK-2 realizes the potential equalization between the oil tanker and the loading bay. It is suitable for operation in hazardous areas of zone 1. When loading petroleum products and other non-conducting inflammable liquids into oil tankers, an explosive atmosphere can occur at the loading bay. By reason of the physical determined potential differences between the tanker and the loading bay (among others by galvanic processes), a sufficiently conductive bonding line for potential equalization is required in order to prevent sparking effectively (for example when connecting the product hoses or a gangway). At the same time the electrostatic charges, which are generated by loading fuels, are diverted in a safe way by ensuring a conductive bonding line. The danger of explosion by an unintentional discharge of static electricity is eliminated. Specially Designed Grounding Clamp The specially designed grounding clamp ensures that the through-connection of the potential equalization takes place only when the ground clamp has been tightly fastened and a low-resistance contact is made. A soon as the correct grounding is detected, the clearly visible indicator lamps and the potential-free output to control the loading process are switched over to release. Certified to ATEX 95 All components are separately certified in accordance with the European explosion prevention directive ATEX 95 for the operation in hazardous areas of zone 1. All components are built into a compact water-jet protected switchgear cabinet of stainless steel (Protection class IP 65). Thereto connected is a standard 20 m neoprene grounding cable of 4 x 10 mm² with the special ship grounding clamp of stainless steel.
