A $1,000 scholarship will once again be awarded in honor of Del Lonzo, a Michigan City high school teacher and long term member of the First Trust Credit Union Board of Directors. The award will be made to a graduating high school senior who is a member, or child of a member of First Trust Credit Union, who will be pursuing a four year degree. Selection will be based on the student’s grade point average, community involvement, a recommendation letter from a teacher, and a student essay. Michigan City 950 E. The memorial scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior, GED recipient, or a home school graduate, who will be pursuing an associate degree, certification, or licensing in a specialized field such as auto mechanics, cosmetology, dental assistant, CDL, etc. The award will also be made to a member or child of a member of First Trust Credit Union, and will be based on the student’s commitment and drive for the selected profession, and their essay. Applications for either scholarship can be picked up at high school guidance offices, at any First Trust office, or online under scholarship information at www.firsttrustcu.com. Deadline for submission will be February 20, 2015. The scholarships will be announced in April, and will be awarded at the winning applicant’s school during their annual awards program.
