LEARN TO SKATE Kroc Center Ice offers ice skating, figure skating, and ice hockey skating classes for children and adults of all ability levels. Many classes are offered more than one day of the week, so learning to ice skate on a busy schedule is easy. Our curriculum is based on the Ice Skating Institute’s (ISI) “We Skate” program and is taught by professional ISI certified instructors. Each session consists of 6 to 8, 30-minute classes; one class each week. Class enrollment includes unlimited FREE Public Skating, FREE skate rental, progress report, and graduation certificate. Dress warmly; gloves or mittens are recommended. BEGINNING ICE SKATING CLASSES FIGURE SKATING PARENT & ME AGES 3 – 5 Upon successful completion of a pre-requisite Beginning Skate class, youth students will progress through figure skating class levels:Pre Alpha, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta & Freestyle Levels 1 – 5. Adult students will progres to Adult Intermediate. AGES 6 – 13 Toddlers will learn with assistance and onice encouragement of a parent. This class introduces the basics of ice skating to young children through fun and games. Fee includes both parent and child. ICE ARENA SESSIONS TINY TOTS AGES 3 & 4 For toddlers who no longer require parental assistance, this class introduces ice skating basics such as falling, getting up, marching, using fun and games designed by our instructors. Age appropriate, ice skating games keep toddlers involved but still learning. Children master basics such as t-Position and push and glide stroking while also preparing for more involved maneuvers. BEGINNING SKATE AGES 6 – 13 Skaters learn amongst their peers to become proficient in ice skating fundamentals, leaving this class with confidence, ready to move into either figure skating or hockey. This class fulfills the pre-requisite to move on to Pre-Alpha or Hockey. ADULT BEGINNING SKATE AGES 14+ An introduction to the basic fundamentals of ice skating specifically tailored to the adult skater. HOCKEY SKATING YOUTH HOCKEY SKATING AGES 6 – 13 Introduces hockey skating fundamentals. Prerequisite: Completion of Beginning Skate or equivalent class. Learn to Skate classes are a great place to start and with our Learn to Play program you will develop skating skills and learn the game. Skating is the core skill in hockey and is emphasized in all our programs. A solid foundation in skating will allow the student to focus on individual hockey skills. Follow the steps below and with some practice you’ll be scoring goals. Building on fundamental hockey skating skills, Rookies learn how to play the game and participate in Skills Clinics alongside current San Diego Saints Youth InHouse players. All enrolled Rookies players receive FREE Public Skating sessions. Required equipment: HECC approved/certified hockey helmet with a full-face mask, shin guards, elbow pads, gloves, hockey shorts, and a stick. Prerequisite: Completion of Beginning Skate or equivalent class. YOUTH ICE HOCKEY LEAGUES AGES 6 – 17 Recreational in-house hockey played under the auspices of USA Hockey Rules & Regulations. Our mission is to assist in developing character through exposure to hockey. The Saints strive to create an experience for young athletes that will positively affect them well beyond their playing days by encouraging, developing, advancing and administering the sport in a responsible manner. YOUTH ICE HOCKEY LEAGUES Competitive non-profit youth in house leagues ages 8 to 16(Mite – Midget). A Kroc Gift card will be issued for all approved cancellation requests & may be obtained from Guest Services. Kroc Center Gift Cards are redeemable at all venues, good as cash. Gift Cards are not linked to a customer account; customer must have the actual card in order to redeem for a purchase. Please treat the card as cash as lost cards are not replaced. Cancellation requests must be submitted within 90 days following date of purchase. A $10 administrative fee is assessed for all requests submitted after the start of the class/program. All items left in the Kroc Center will be collected & stored behind the Guest Services Desk in the venue in which they were found. Smaller items are kept in a box for safe keeping. Staff will attempt to contact individuals in the case that a name is associated with the lost item. Each Sunday, all items remaining will be bagged with a label noting the week, stored for an additional week, then donated.
