TRANSFER GUIDE AND PLANNING WORKSHEET Colorado Community Colleges University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Bachelor of Arts Degree – Biology, Secondary Education This planning worksheet represents a guide for community college students transferring to the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) and majoring in Biology, Secondary Education. This guide is not part of the state-wide “60+60” articulation agreement, but can be used to efficiently transfer to UCCS for secondary education licensure. Students who complete this guide will have a remaining 68 hours to complete the degree at UCCS, bringing the total credit hours to 128 hours. Native UCCS students complete 129 total hours. UCCS will only accept transfer courses completed with a grade of “C” or better. Courses taken at other colleges, AP, IB, CLEP, and other sources of credit may not be applicable upon transfer to UCCS even if applied to the associate’s degree at the community college. ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE REQUIREMENTS (60 Credits): Where possible, choose ‘Required’ (Sections I and II) and ‘Best Choice’ (Section III) courses to apply toward associate degree general education and electives course work. I. One course from PHI 111, PHI 112, or PHI 113 is required to fulfill part of this requirement. Arts and Expression (AH1) Literature and Humanities (AH2) Ways of Thinking (AH3) PHI 111, PHI 112, or PHI 113 Cr-Hrs 5 Grade Cr-Hrs Grade 3 Foreign Language (AH4) Social and Behavioral Sciences (6 credit hours) PSY 101 and either GEO 105 or GEO 106 must be completed to fulfill part of this requirement. Geography (SS2) GEO 105 or GEO 106 Human Behavior, Culture, or Social Frameworks (SS3) PSY 101 History (3 credit hours) Select one course from the History (HI1) category. History (HI1) Physical and Life Sciences (12 credit hours) Complete the courses listed below. Required Courses for UCCS - Biology, Secondary Education Major To ensure a minimum of extraneous credit hours, all required courses below must be satisfactorily completed as part of the AS degree within the 60 semester hour maximum. These ‘Best Choices’ courses facilitate graduating from UCCS with a major in Biology, Secondary Education in the same time frame as a native UCCS student. ‘Best Choice’ courses are listed in priority order. Complete sequence courses before transferring to UCCS.
