2. Stephanie leaves school at 3:00 on her bike and travels at a speed of 10 mph. If her mom
leaves home at the same time and drives toward school at 40 mph, what time will they
meet if the distance between home and school is 10 miles?
3. Joey and Josh are 600 miles apart. If Joey travels towards Josh at 22 mph and Josh
travels toward Joey at 26 mph, how long until they meet?
4. A sailboat is taking on water during a storm and is in danger of sinking. After calling the
Coast Guard, the sailboat turns towards shore and travels at 17 mph towards Boston
which is 123.9 miles away. At the same time, a Coast Guard cutter leaves Boston and
heads towards the floundering sailboat at a speed of 42 mph. How long until the Coast
Guard reaches the sailboat?
5. A horse and a chicken are standing at a point on a ¼ mile track. The horse heads in one
direction at 26 mph while the chicken heads in the opposite direction at 4 mph. How many
seconds will pass before they meet again?

km/h. Jasmine left at the same time and traveled in the opposite direction with an
average speed of 65 km/h. Find the number of hours Jasmine needs to travel before they
are 59.4 km apart.
