The National framework of Qualifications is a single structure for
recognising all education and training in Ireland. You will see that some
awards now have an NFQ Level (1-10) which have nationally agreed
standards of what an individual is expected to know, understand and be
able to do following successful completion of a course at each particular
level. The Quality Qualifications of Ireland (QQI) awards have replaced
FETAC and HETAC awards. For example a FETAC level 5 award is now
called a QQI Level 5 award.

currently on or considering VTOS,
BTEI, Community Education courses
and former residents of designated
institutions.
Our Information Centre is open to all adults and provides access to
information
about
courses,
education
and
training
opportunities and careers. We
can also assist with applying for
courses,
money
matters,
childcare supports, qualifications
and so on. Our Information
centre has a careers and
education library and you will
have access to the internet to
help with your research. Our
Information Officer will be on
hand to help you in whatever
way she can.

Back to Education Initiative
BTEI aims to combine education and training with family work and other
responsibilities. Courses run on a part-time basis and offers FETAC/QQI
accreditation.
BTEI courses are free to adults who satisfy one of the requirements
below:

Community Education Provision
Community Education refers to adult education and learning, generally
outside the formal education sector. The purpose of this scheme is to
assist community and voluntary groups to deliver a range of educational
activities for disadvantaged adults within their community. Grants are
provided to enable adults to avail of community education at minimal or
no cost. Priority will be given to:
Any person who has left full-time education can apply to take part in

a BTEI course. However, priority will be given to people with less
than a Leaving Certificate standard of education


