Second Sunday in
Ordinary Time
Your body is a temple of the
Holy Spirit within you.
— 1 Corinthians 6:19a
Second Sunday in Ordinary Time 
Focus: We are to use our everyday actions and
conversations to help attract others to Jesus.
Through their witness of Jesus as the Messiah, John the Baptist
and Saint Andrew are instrumental to the world coming to
know about Jesus and his mission on earth. By telling a friend
or relative about Jesus, which is what these men did, we are
continuing this work of evangelization today.

2015 IC Church
Guide Book & Directory
In order to help us know more about our IC Church Parish and
to have an annually updated church directory, we have
contracted with Guide Book Publishing to produce
“Guide Book and Directory”. This book will be directly
mailed to every registered household in our parish and is being
provided at no cost to our church.
If you would like to be included in the Directory and receive a
copy of it, please be sure you are a registered member of
Immaculate Conception Parish. Registration forms are
available in the church vestibule & at the church office.
We also ask that you let the church office know of any
changes, additions, or deletions that may have occurred in
YOUR family over the past year.
Have you moved, changed phone numbers or had a change in
a family member’s status? Are all your children included in
your membership record or are some old enough to register as
separate family members (our parish policy is that family
members should register as separate adult members upon
reaching 19 years of age.)
Please contact the church office at 501-835-4323, if you have
any changes to make in YOUR family’s information before
the new Guide Book and Directory is published.
If you do not want your phone number and/or address
listed in the publication, please contact the church office
before January 30th.
The Guide Book & Directory is and shall remain the property of the
church and is intended for the private use of the members of this
congregation only. Use of this book by anyone for business purposes
or for telephone or mail solicitations is strictly forbidden.
Advertising Opportunity-Guide Book & Directory
The parish Guide Book & Directory is the Who, What, Where,
When, Why and How of our parish. The book is being provided
at no cost to our Church, including the mailing to each
registered family and is being subsidized by local businesses
that advertise in it. If you own or manage a business and
would like to find out about advertising in our book, please
call the church office at 501-835-4323.
Recent survey results by Guide Book Publishing show that 92.1% of families
would rather patronize a Guide Book & Directory advertiser over a nonadvertiser. It “will pay” to advertise in our new Guide Book & Directory.
Altar Society Members Our next regular meeting will be a
Soup Luncheon on Monday, February 2nd at 12 noon in
Immaculata Hall. The officers will arrange for the soups and
the February committee is asked to provide the desserts. This
is our annual baby shower and luncheon to benefit
Birthright this year. New or gently used baby items, clothing, diapers etc are appreciated. Contact Joan Finnegan 8357144 or Carolyn Chalmers 835-5544 to answer any questions;
please call a few days ahead for ride assistance.
CATHOLIC YOUTH MINISTRY
WATCHING FOR THE MESSIAH
Today’s Gospel story of John and his
disciples seeing and following Jesus sounds so simple and casual, it’s easy to miss the significant acts
of faith that are made.
John points to Jesus: “Look,” he says, “there is the Lamb
of God.” John’s faith in Jesus is evident, so evident that
John’s disciples immediately leave his side to follow this
Jesus.
The two disciples make their own act of faith. They
follow Jesus, spend time with him, and are quick to spread the
good news of their discovery: “We have found the Messiah.”
It is easy to forget that the expectations of generations,
the hopes of many ages of faithful people were being fulfilled
in these simple acts of faith. The Lamb of God, the Messiah,
foretold by the prophets, had finally come. Nearly everyone
among the Jewish people was watching for the Messiah back
then; who in our own society watches for signs of the
presence of the Messiah today? Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
