This day is for your adaptation: Swamy M. K. Srinivasan welcomes you after breakfast
with an introduction to Hindu cosmology and Vedic Astrology. In the afternoon you
can do a smooth beach-walk to the fishermen’s village Mamallapuram.
Mahabalipuram

After breakfast one part of the group will proceed to Uthiramelur for the astrological
Nadi reading at the palm leaf library based on the principle of Vedic astrology.
Swamy M. K. Srinivasan will accompany us these two days as a spiritual teacher and
translator from Tamil to English. Together with the Nadi Reader they will give a
recommendation for individual pujas at the Planet Temples.
The other part of our group will have time to relax at the beach or the pool – or visit
the Mamallapuram’s temples as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Mamallapuram was the main port of the Pandya kingdom, uprising to its strongest
power in the 6th Century AD in Tamil Nadu. The temples of Mamallapuram are among
the oldest buildings in South India and indicating the beginning of the development
of the Dravidian style which is signifying the typical architecture of the South Indian
temples.

Chidambaram

Drive to Chidambaram (3 ½ hrs) – lunch at a local Brahmin family. A boat trip in the
afternoon through the mangrove forests of Veeranam Lake will relax our mind after
the long journey.
Later visit of the Natara Temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The name can be
translated as "the sphere of knowledge". With his famous Nataraja temple
Chidambaram was a religious center already in earlier times and particularly
supported by the kings of the Chola dynasty who have dominanted South India from
the 9th Century. According to the myth Lord Shiva is performing the cosmic dance

This day we will start the Navagraha Temple visit with the first three temples for the
planets MARS, MERCURY and KETHU. In all the temples we will do poojas together
with the Brahmins of the temples. Your spiritual tour leader is taking care of the
individual rituals for everyone as recommended by the Nadi reader.

Kumbakonam

Transfer to Kumbakonam (1 ½ hrs) which is one of the most important pilgrimage
destinations in Tamil Nadu. The main temple of the numerous shrines in Kumbakonam
is the Kumbareshwara Temple originated from the Chola period in the 12th Century.
According to the myth the pot (Sanskrit "Kumbha") with the drink of immortality
("Amrita") swept away from Mount Meru and landed at the site of Kumbakonam. God
Shiva had then destroyed the vessel with an arrow and formed a lingam from the
shards which is found nowadays at the center of the Kumbareshwara Temple. The
Mahakha temple pond is arranged at the place where the immortality drink flowed
according to the myth. The pond is in the focus of a Mahamaham festival which takes
place every twelve years at an astrologically determined date in the Tamil month
Masi (January/February). Millions of pilgrims flock to Kumbakonam to take a ritual
bath in the temple pond that fills at this time allegedly with holy Ganges water.

Around Kumbakonam we will visit the following days all the other six Planet Temples
– one morning SUN and VENUS, the next morning SATURN and RAGHU and the next
day the MOON in the morning, JUPITER in the evening – and celebrate our individual
poojas at the temples. (The line-up of the temple visits may change according to
particular constellations.)
During these days there will be enough time for meditation, relaxation, massages and
shopping around Kumbakonam. On request you can get a special consultation and
discussion with Art Astrologer Leonard.
The last day we will visit Swamimalai as one of the six shrines of the Lord Murugan,
the second son of Lord Shiva - or Thanjavur with its Brihadishvara Tempel on request.
The Brihadishvara (Great Lord) Temple was built around 1009 C.E. by the emperor
Rajaraja Chola in the Chola capital of Tanjore (Tanjavur) and is dedicated to Lord
Shiva. The temple is also known for its 250 carved Lingams and the third tallest Nandi
statue as the mount of Shiva.

This day is free for individual leisure and to recap all the impressions of this journey.
Swamy will meet us for a final review of our spiritual tour. Optional drive to
Thirukazhukundram and visit of the Eagle Temple (Kazhugu koil) dedicated to Lord
Shiva. More than 1000 steps are leading to the sanctuary up on a mountain.
In the evening farewell dinner and transfer to the airport.
