DESCRIPTION Fulfilling the Promise of the Common Core with the Core Six The Common Core State Standards represent a new promise in education—the promise to prepare all of our students for college, careers, and the challenges of the 21st Century. In this interactive one-day workshop, participants will identify key challenges in fulfilling the promise of the Common Core. Dr. Harvey Silver will then introduce participants to the “Core Six”: six easy-to-use, research-based strategies that teachers at any grade level can use to develop their students’ core thinking, literacy, and communication skills. After, participants will explore two Core Six strategies in depth— Reading for Meaning and Compare & Contrast.
