The Harvey Public Library is seeking an energetic and capable leader to fill the position of Library Director in a city-funded library that serves the population of Harvey and the surrounding area. Salary: $30,000 to $35,000 based on qualifications and experience Benefits: Health insurance, pension plan, sick days, and vacation days Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED, library experience preferred General Responsibilities and Skills: Supervise, lead, and motivate library staff members Responsible for participating as a team member and supporting the Library Board policies and long range goals Working knowledge of computers and ability to learn library circulation software (Aleph) and WordPress website interface Work with State Library to catalog books Possess strong customer service skills, the ability to resolve customer concerns, and manage disturbances and emergencies in the library Ability to conduct reference interviews, analyze requests, and perform complex computer searches of databases and internet resources Ability to communicate (hear and speak clearly) with staff, customers, and others.
