The Worship Leaders for this week’s service are: Rev. Wayne Racz, Rev. Dr. Jeff Garrison, Dr. Mary McKee, Andy Lohn and
the SIPC Chancel Choir.
If anyone has special needs, concerns or desires to become a member of our congregation, you
are invited to meet with our Elder of the week, Andy Lohn. He will be available immediately
following the service at the front of the church.
SIPC would like to welcome our guest preacher Rev. Wayne Racz
John Calvin: His Life and Legacy
Our denomination’s roots are in the Swiss Reformation. Although he did not reform the church in Geneva and wasn’t
even Swiss, but French, John Calvin quickly became the leader of the movement and his influence is still felt in
Presbyterian and Reformed Churches around the globe as well in secular areas such as education and social concerns.
Calvin’s view of God’s sovereignty, the role of sin in human life, and the purpose of those called by the Almighty to
serve for the glory of God are still major thoughts within our theology today.
Rev. Wayne Racz serves as vice president of the Georgia United Methodist Foundation. Prior to joining this
ministry, he was pastor at St. Luke UMC in Savannah and Stapleton Charge. He is also a former attorney and certified
public accountant. Wayne lives in Savannah with his wife, Ginny, and has three children, Katy Jeanne, Ben, and Sam .
Starting Wednesday, January 7, our pastor will begin a five week study on Calvin’s legacy. Won’t you join us as we look
at this influential theologian and how his influence is still being felt in our world?
The classes will meet every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. from January 7 through February 11,
(with the exception of January 14 when our Pastor will be at Stephen Ministry training).
We are trying something new. Instead of having the pew pads to pass and sign, we are asking everyone to fill out a
card and to place it in the offering plate. On this card, you can update your contact information if it has changed (just
check the box), inform the church of prayer concerns and indicate a willingness to take a new step on the road of
discipleship by signing up for an event here at the church. We hope these new cards will be able to increase
communication for everyone. Thanks for giving this a try!

Over the years I have attended many
Leadership Development Conferences,
both as a deacon and an elder.
Each time I came away with the knowledge that
I could fulfill the office my church elected me to serve.
We know that Jesus wants His disciples "to share the word."
What better way to serve the Lord than
by sharing the knowledge we gain from this weekend!
Come and share with one another
and spread the love we all have for our Lord and Savior!

Moderator, Presbyterian Women
If that sounds like the kind of experience you are looking for, join us Friday evening, February 13 and Saturday, February
14, 2015 for the Savannah Presbytery's 36th Annual Leadership Development Conference!

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole. God said, No. Her spirit
was whole. Her body was only temporary.
I asked God to grant me patience. God said, No. Patience is a by-product of
tribulation. It isn’t granted. It is earned.
I asked God to give me happiness. God said, No. I give you blessings.
Happiness is up to you.
I asked God to spare me pain. God said, No. Suffering draws you apart from
worldly cares and brings you closer to Me.
I asked God to make my spirit grow. God said, No. You must grow on your
own, but I will prune you to make you fruitful.
I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life. God said, No. I will give you
life so that you may enjoy all things.
I ask God to help me LOVE others as much as He loves me. God said . . .
Ahhhh, finally you have the idea.
