126th Moolah Shrine Potentate
Illustrious Sir David W. Dieckhaus
Nobles,
I am honored and humbled to be elected as the 126th Potentate of Moolah Shrine
Temple. I would like to congratulate Illustrious Sir Dennis E. Kelley on his fantastic
year in 2014 setting the bar extremely high. I am very proud of our dedicated Divan
and feel we are ready to move Moolah forward in the coming year. We have a busy
and fun filled year ahead for you and your family. I ask that you take advantage of
helping us make this a very successful year for all the Moolah family.
I am excited to announce the appointment of Dennis Burkholder to the position of Outer Guard. Dennis is not a stranger to
the Shrine fraternity as he serves on the Imperial Public Relations committee appointed by the Imperial Potentate. You will see
Dennis everywhere you see Shriners. Dennis will be a great asset to the line of officers and Moolah is very lucky to have Dennis
and his lady Cindy as part of the Divan.
We have talked for many years about membership and of course we will continue to talk about membership again this year as
it is the most important part of staying a growing temple. I have appointed Shawn Ruether as the Chairman of the Membership
committee and DJ Herman has volunteered to be the co-chair. These dedicated young men have new ideas and are ready to
move forward quickly. I ask everyone in the shrine to assist and become involved personally with the membership of Moolah. I
am challenging each and every Moolah Shriner to bring in at least one Shriner this year. Just think how that would double our
membership in one year. Do you accept the challenge?
We will be continuing the Shrine Club Marshal positions that have been so successful since its inception two years ago. Monty
Kennedy from Joachim and ECMO Shrine Clubs, Mitch Weinsting from Tiger Shrine Club will be returning and Bill Snell from
NEMO Shrine Club is my new appointment. I would like to thank these gentlemen for proudly accepting these positions
My motto this year is “Let’s be seen in 2015”, and I’m asking that each Moolah Shriner wear there fez proudly when out in
the public. We have many exciting events scheduled for this year and I hope you will participate in as many as you can. We
will start the year off with a bang, with your Divan traveling to the Shrine Club installations. Our first trip is January 3rd when we
travel by bus to NEMO Shrine Club in Hannibal. Activities at Moolah will begin on January 4th with our First Annual Bridal Show
and Event. The Clown Variety Show will be January 10th.
The Potentate’s Presentation Ball will be in the Ballroom on February 28th. The ball will have a circus theme and be a black
tie affair with your favorite circus accessories. (Use your imagination and have fun). This will help us kick off the circus season.
All the Ball details are included in this issue.
The Circus is at the Family Arena in St. Charles March 19-22nd. Circus Chairman Victor Dane promises to outdo last year’s
event. Circus Kick-off will be at Moolah on March 7th with the Parade in Cottleville on March 14th. Please don’t miss any of
these exciting family events. This year’s Circus Director Mark Rethmeyer will see to it that this is our best circus ever. Through
the dedicated and hardworking Circus Committee and all the Moolah Shriners and families, I feel we will have another successful
Circus.
The Spring Ceremonial will be April 4th in honor of the Grand Master of Missouri, Most Worshipful David Haywood. And on
April 11th the new hospital with be opening on the Washington University Campus. First Lady Christine will be hosting a huge
yard sale on Moolah’s parking lot April 25th with the proceeds going toward the Moolah building fund. Later this year I have an
Alaskan cruise and land tour planned for June 7-17th.
I want to make sure I say Thank You to all the ladies of Moolah Shrine. Many of you belong to groups that support Moolah
but also your support of your Shriner behind the scenes is greatly appreciated. We all know that you are not only behind us but
you also walk beside us. Thank you Ladies for all of your hard work, support, dedication, and understanding. Many of our stated
meeting nights will include bringing our ladies which seems to have worked out well the past couple of years.
I am Proud to be a Shriner and I am proud to be your Potentate for 2015.

These We
Do Not Forget
"Es Selamu Aleikum"
By Karl Erselius
Have a POSITIVE
New Year
A
s we enter a New Year, most people generally look at the New Year as a
“fresh start”. So we make “New Year Resolutions”, which are usually broken
in a matter of weeks. Following that, many folks become pessimistic and become
negative about what the New Year holds.
So here’s an encouraging and “POSITIVE” poem by Edgar Guest, a famous poet
and Mason. It’s titled “The Future”. “The worst is yet to come.” So wail the doubters’
glum. But here’s the better view; “My best is yet to do”; The worst some always fear;
To-morrow holds no cheer, Yet farther on life’s lane, are joys you shall attain. Go
forward bravely, then. And play your part as men. For this is ever true: “Our best
we’ve yet to do.”
Looking at the New Year, three thoughts came to me. 1-Humans lose the value
of things very fast. “What was that we did last year?” (Have you noticed how fast
time flies, the older we get?). 2-My time is running out. (I’m 78 and Scripture says
the maximum life span of man is 70 to 80, and I’ve still got a lot to do). 3- Very
few things are eternal. The New Year reminds us “most things are temporary; not
eternal.”
Then Scripture reminded me of three truths that ARE eternal. Truths that NEVER
expire, or lose their original value. These truths, are of great importance because
a New Year brings new challenges and these truths will definitely “help you slay
your evil giants in 2015.” These truths come from 1 Samuel Chapter 17, the story
of David and Goliath. Truth 1, vs.26 God is alive. Twice in this passage David
refers to the Living God. Scripture “limits” our life expectancy BUT GOD IS ALIVE
FOREVER. Truth 2, vs.34-37 shows God is faithful. David tells Saul that “the Lord
delivered me” and will deliver me from the Giant. God never changes. Truth 3, vs.36
God is our heavenly Father; and nothing can take away my personal relationship
with Him unless I explicitly walk away from my relationship with God.
As a child of God, hold fast to these eternal truths and 2015 will be the year you
slay giants. May God Bless and strengthen David and Christine Dieckhaus, the
Divan, and each and every one of you in the coming year.
Hospital Van Drivers Needed
The Guides provide free transportation to and from the Shriners Hospital for patients and
families seven days a week. Over 15,000 trips have been made. The Guides have provided
the Hospital Van and the drivers since 1990. Each trip requires two volunteers, a driver and
a rider for legal and safety reasons. Many days we have several runs and a few days we
have only one or none.. This service has been provided by the Guides Unit for years and
requires many volunteers. Ideally two people can volunteer to be the Van team the same
days each week. Lately we have had some real challenges with having enough drives/
riders to maintain this long standing service for our patients and their families. The actual
drivers need to be registered (short process) but anyone can assist as a rider until this is
completed. We now need some volunteers from other Units in the Shrine to help us.
If you would like to be part of this very rewarding service to our patients and the Hospital
please contact our Van Chairman Lonnie Willis.

hat a crazy December. There
W
were so many events, parties and
meetings that I can’t mention them all.
But some of the highlights included the
Clown’s Family Xmas party. It was great
to see everyone pitching in to make this
a memorable occasion for our families.
A special thanks goes to Chopper
(Terry Aaron) and his lady Janet for
organizing this fun day. I’m told he even
had some extra help from an elf named
Jessica. One of the neat things that
happened on this day was that Bob-O
(Bob Holscher) performed his magic
act for the kids who really enjoyed the
show as well as a lot of the clowns. We
had Gonzo (Gary Gonzalaz-Rubio) out
making burgers and finished the day by
taking on the responsibility of cleaning
all the pots and pans at the end of the
day. The Hospital Reunion party was
as much fun as any other event we had
this year. It was really great to see the
improvement in their abilities provided
by our organization.
The Variety Show was the social
event of the month. A really nice crowd
watched some great acts and some
funny announcers. A special thanks
to Buckles (Dave Hartwig) for making
sure the bar was working quickly and
efficiently. Also congrats to Buckles
for becoming Moolah’s Shriner of the
Month. Merlin (Tom Dolan) brought
the house down with his different
impersonations of all the movie stars.
Now we get ready for the Circus. A
lot of practice and building going on to
prepare for this fun time. Make sure you
start selling tickets.

Chanters have new officers...guess
most units do...It’s that time of the year.
Our new slate, guided by officers of the
past, give hope to a year of smooth sailing
with many expected accomplishments.
We’re looking forward to...
1. Recruiting basses, baritones, tenors,
even monotones who like to sing...and
if you don’t think you can, let us be the
judge. We’ll even train!
2. Cramming our schedules with massive
amounts of Sing Outs! If you know of any,
just let us know.
3. Socializing with other units.
4. Partaking and enjoying many parties
and other enjoyable gatherings.
5. Entertaining and helping where we can
at OUR Shrine Hospital.
6. And anything else we can do to
advance the cause of the Shrine.
Our schedule for December passed,
was as full as we could handle. But it
wasn’t too busy...we’ve never been too
busy. If anyone thinks they can cram our
schedule beyond possible...BRING IT ON!
We were very fortunate to have
amongst us a very important Shriner
who for his good deeds and outstanding
service to Moolah and the Hospital was
elevated to Shriner of the Month for
December 2014. That fine and VERY
busy gentleman is our own Noble Bill
Bradford, aided by his beautiful and
faithful wife of many disguises, Lady
Nancy. Thank you Bill and Nancy. We
are very proud to know you.
If you were gifted to the hilt for
Christmas and 2015 opened abounding
with hope for your future, you are truly
blessed. It is our hope all good things
and all fruitful experiences are in yours
and the world’s future. If you’re one of
those so fortunate, carry it forward! Be a
Shriner!
Having exhausted my arsenal of
platitudes and encouragements, it’s time
to move on.

activities, information and knowledge. We discuss
members queries, issues and programs with computers,

on new technologies.
Why? The Moolah Shrine Computer Club is a group of
professionals, computer enthusiasts and beginners who
want to teach and learn about computing and having fun
doing it....
When? Monthly meetings are the second Monday of
each month. Meetings start at 7:00 pm. We first meet for
demos and discussion and then move to the computer
lab on the second floor next to the Moolah Shrine Store.
There we have a chance to demonstrate and fix individuals

Hello, from your Moolah Band:
ur Christmas concert season is in
O
full swing and we are playing to
enthusiastic audiences. The residents
get into the music, singing and
just enjoying listening and seeing how
much fun we have and how
they genuinely appreciate our visits.
This is an excellent way for us to
promote Shrinedom and Freemasonry
as we reach out to the community.
We enjoyed playing for Brunch with
Santa and the party for the kids
from the hospital, as well as the Band
party, where everyone had time
to socialize without having to entertain
an audience.
Soon it will be Circus time again
and we are looking forward to being
in the parade at the new location in
Cottleville. The City of Cottleville
has a great St. Patrick’s Day parade
which coincides with the Shrine
Circus, and draws a huge audience.
Another great way to promote our
Fraternity and the work the hospitals
are doing.
We are looking for new members,
especially Nobles who are interested
in participating and spreading the word
of what Shriners do for the
kids by supporting the Shriners
Hospitals for Children. You may be
a Noble who is looking for a home
where you can make use of your
musical talents! If that is the case,
please give me a call or e-mail and I
will answer any questions you may
have.
Also, remember we are also a
community band, so if your child or
grandchild plays an instrument, he or
she is welcome to play in the Band.
We meet Wednesday evenings at 7:30
to practice. Our concerts are mainly
Wednesday nights at 7:00 and on
some Tuesdays. We would love to
have you participate with us.
We always leave ‘em smiling!

Prosperous New Year! The DeMolay
Committee assists the Masonic Youth Orga-
nizations in their relations with the Moolah
Shriners. Although not firing on all cylinders
sometimes, we are proud to say we have
one of the best programs in all Shrinedom.
The DeMolay, Jobs Daughters and Rainbow
Girls are excited to be affiliated with Moolah.
The New Year brings another Circus,
Sports Leagues, Baby Sitting, Christmas
w/Santa, Work Projects, King and Queen
Dance and much more.
Our St. Charles Circus Coupon Distribution is scheduled for February 9th at Cecil
Whitaker’s Pizza on West Clay (9 am). This
is sponsored in part by the Daniel Boone
Shrine Club. We need drivers and walkers.
Pizza of course!!!!!!
The Masonic Youth Groups are the future
of our Shrine. Last year a number of DeMolay joined the Shrine. We need to welcome
them and help them become a part of a
unit. At 18 years of age they’re looking to
the Lodge and then to the affiliated bodies.
Please help them with their journey!!
This Committee also helps with guiding
young persons to our Youth Groups.
If you have a son, daughter, grandson,
granddaughter, nephew, niece or young
neighbor – please direct them our way. A
quote from DeMolay says it all – “Building
Tomorrow’s Leaders Today”.
If you have any questions or thoughts –
drop us a line!

ongratulations to the newly elected officers
C
for 2015. We are looking forward to an
exciting new year! Reflecting on 2014, the
Lancers had a busy year. Besides all the drill
practices and parades, several activities took
place at the Ranch. We had a successful and
delicious Chuck Wagon BBQ on July 20th and
a Wine Tasting Party on October 11th. Both
events will be scheduled again in 2015. The
Lancers also participated in Rodeo Grand
Entries.
There were several meetings with the
Lancers, local horse riders/clubs and Missouri
Department of Conservation about a possible
horseback riding trail to be developed in
Robertsville State Park. Discussions will
continue. Future plans for 2015 include horse
show(s) at the Ranch and a tentative trail ride
with the St. Louis Mounted Police.
We were saddened by the deaths of
several good Lancers...Harry Hubach(2013),
as well as Norm Birtley and Ed Kellogg this
year. Reminder that winter meetings will be
held at the Temple on the 3rd Wednesday of
the month, starting in our room at 6:30 PM.
Meetings at the Ranch will resume in April.
Anyone interested in becoming a member
of the Moolah Mounted Lancers may contact
Allen Coggins at 314-602-7454 or Pancho
Windler at 324-974-5000. Riders and nonriders are invited to join. *You do not need
a horse to be a member of the Lancers.

everyone had a wonderful holiday season and I wish you all a

healthy and prosperous new year.
Nailah Court has had a busy 2014 and we are already planning
for a great 2015. Our new corps of officers will take office in April and
have already started plans for their fundraisers and activities. 2014 has
brought Nailah Court many successful adventures. We participated in
two Shrine Circus Parades, provide refreshments for Tuesday Night
Swing Dance, sell wreaths for Christmas, decorated the hospital for
Christmas, had a booth at the Circus Kick-off, manned the novelty carts
at the Circus, hosted an opportunity to own a traveling package and
a Masquerade Ball. Plus, we will be hosting a crazy bowl at Olivette
Lanes on April 12th, from 1pm-4pm. We hope everyone can join us for
the extremely fun fundraiser, please contact us for more details. We
will also be having our traveling opportunity to own, a 50/50, and other
activities this day. We hope to see everyone at this unique event. We will
have packages that have been shipped from all over the world and you
will have the opportunity to purchase the package, discover its hidden
contents, and take it home. We wish everyone a very safe winter and a
prosperous New Year. Hope to see you at our next meeting on the 3rd
Monday of each month.

year for Sydyk Temple No. 107. We initiated
five new members, so we would sincerely
like to welcome Carol, Lesley, Lorraine,
Mindy and Susan to our ranks. We are so
thrilled to have them and know they will
enjoy our work for the children at Shriners
Hospitals for Children.
Quite a few of us and a couple Nobles
accompanied the Queen to Omaha for
Supreme Nile where we were given four
Supreme Appointees. They are Past
Queens Mary, Chappel, Linda & Suzanne.
Then we were delighted to host the
Supreme Queen Marsha Sowers visit
where we had a wonderful tour of the old
hospital, a luncheon and also a tour of the
new hospital. We then held a ceremonial
and had a beautiful banquet in the supreme
Queen’s honor. October took us to a very
successful turkey dinner and bazaar and
then November 1st, another success was
the Trivia Night. We finally ended our year
by having a delightful pot luck dinner with
our Nobles.
Now we are looking forward to a new
year as we draw Queen Anne’s year to a
close and make plans for the 2015 officers
to take office in March. We are still selling
our sheets and always collecting items for
the children at Shriner’s Hospital. Especially
needed are gift cards and hand held
games. There will not be a lot of storage
at the new hospital, so the list of collected
items will become more liked.
Please make a resolution to join us on
the 1st Wednesday of each month, except
July and August. We miss you when you
are not there.

Nine of the 16 Charter members who are still Noble Lodge
members were presented a certificate by MWB David Haywood.
A special prayer by RWB Nickolas Cichielo and a moment of
silence was observed for our 4 Charter members who have
passed away; Tom Hunter, Alan Pinkstaff, Lou Heins and Ed
Kellogg and 3 Noble Lodge members who have passed away;
George Zidzik, James Andrews and Chuck Jabara. RWB Ty
Treutelaar delivered an inspiring talk on the Masters Closing
Charge. It was an exceptional night of brotherly love!
Noble Lodge sponsored a MOCHIP program at Moolah
Temple on Saturday, December 13th during the Brunch with
Santa. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped out. The
lodge sponsored 20 families in need from the Pattonville School
district, and presented them with a special gift bag that contained
a gift certificate from Schnucks, Wehrenberg Movie Tickets,
Moolah Shrine Circus tickets, toys and gifts for their children.
It’s time to bring in a new member! You can be the 1st line
signer of your candidate’s petition. Only 1 signer of a Masonic
petition needs to be from Noble Lodge, the other signer can be
from any Lodge. Keep this in mind if you have a candidate. It
all starts with you submitting the petition for your candidate. The
petition will be received at our next meeting, and your candidate
will be notified. In most cases he will be invited to attend the
next meeting, meet with the investigating committee, and then
his EA degree will be scheduled. If you have a candidate for the
Spring Ceremonial, now would be a good time to get him started!
If you would like to help out at the next chip program, contact

Our President Mary Rammelsburg opened our meeting
and invited Tony Burst to give the invocation which she did
in an inspiring manner.
After the introductions were made, our Honorary
President Kathy Kelley, reminded us of the Bunco tonight
and future Christmas Parties where volunteers are needed.
President Mary gave Caroline Going the name plaque
she had made for Anna DeClue, Caroline’s daughter, before
she resigned.
Carol gave the Cheer report and Grace reported that the
”Sewers” are busy making halters and shorts for
the Hospital.
After much discussion, we voted to give the 77 Scratchoff Tickets we bought for the Auction to our members at
the December meeting and the donated money to the
President’s Fund.
Christine’s Cook Books will be available at our
December meeting for $30.00; all money going to the
Children’s Educational Electronics at the Hospital.
Time for our annual election and the results are: Tony
Burst, President; Gloria Means, Vice President; Cathy
Meyers, Secretary and Janet Loesch, Treasurer. Thanks
ladies for your service to us.
Lynn Henning is forming a “People Without Partners”
group. See her for details.
Collette Nagel told us about her enlistment in the Waves
right out of High School. She also related where she was
stationed and described her duties. Best of all, that’s where
she met her future husband.
Mary read a Thanksgiving poem and expressed her
appreciation for all the willing help she was given this year.
After the POG and WM we left for home with memories
of another great meeting and a luscious Thanksgiving
luncheon. Ymmmmm.
Noble Lodge #684 Worshipful Master Corey Woodward presented a
check for $2000 to Sue Hartley, the
Dorsett Village Baptist Church administrator of their Pack Back Program for Pattonville School district
on November 26, 2004. Through
the donations of Noble Lodge #684,
they have been able to double the
number of children they can send
food home with on the weekends,
and now accommodate 62 children.
Noble Lodge #684 participates with
the Masonic Home Of Missouri
through it’s Creating a Partnership

January 17th installing President Elect

heard rumor that BuDDer Cupp and Bee Gee
have a “SPECIAL” show lined up for Illustrious Sir David. Shawn and Kristie have done a
great job the past few years supporting TRSC,
Moolah and numerous projects and activities.
It is now time for us to step up and support
their efforts and agenda. You are hurting no

and is always a fun evening. Super Bowl Party

Many parts of our Masonic Ritual comes
to mind as we start the new year. If you have
something negative to say about someone let
them be the first to hear it privately or keep
your mouth shut. Let’s all put our petty differences aside and see who can best work and
best agree. Wear your Fez with pride and dignity, bring your favorite girl to the next Shrine

2015 SHRINE CIRCUS UPDATE
Vic Dane - Circus Chairman

arch 19th through the 22nd will be here before you know it,
M
and your circus committee is hard at work to make sure that
everyone has a great circus experience. But it can only be a great
success with “your” help! Everything has been distributed and additional materials are available in the Shrine Office. You can pick
up additional advertising packets, bumper stickers, yard signs, and
children’s coupons in the office or at the Stated Shrine Meetings.
Get your tickets through your Unit Ticket Chairman. We need every
Shriner to sell ads for the circus program and sponsorships, especially the $500 banner sponsorship!
The Banner Program is something that everyone should be
able to sell. For $500 we will display an electronic banner at every
performance and they will receive 2 books of tickets (a $300 value).
There is a flyer in the Camels’ Tales or you can pick up copies
in the office. This is a great value for companies to be a Circus
Sponsor. If you know of a business that would benefit from having
their advertisement in the arena and you need help closing the deal
-- contact the Circus Director Mark Rethemeyer (314) 605-7615 for
additional information or to help close the deal.
There are additional levels of Corporate Sponsorships above
and beyond the $500 Banners and you can get a handbook from
the office with all the information. Stop by the office and pick up
your copy today.
On January 5th our billboards start going up, and this will help
raise awareness and make selling tickets, ads and sponsorships
much easier so please start early!
If you have any questions, suggestions, or comments that will
help the success of the circus, send an email to Mark at mer2@
charter.net. Your ideas and suggestions are always welcome.
