5 th N a t i o n a l Secondar y Schools’ Quiz Competition 2015 January 14th - June 1st, 2015 Rules & Guidelines INTRODUCTION The National Secondary Schools’ ‘In the Know with H2O: WASA- 50 Years & Beyond” Quiz Competition will be held during the period January 2015 to May 2015. Students of ALL secondary schools in Trinidad and Tobago are eligible to participate. One entry per school must be submitted. Students must be currently registered in the school's Form 3 and 4 classes. OBJECTIVE To promote education amongst the secondary school population and by extension the wider Community. To facilitate the involvement of schools, civil society and the corporate sector in the thorough understanding of the issues affecting the water and wastewater sector. To share information and empower the society, via the student population, to change their behaviour toward protection of the natural environment and to secure this finite resource, WATER, for present and future generations. The team must comprise four members with two reserves. They may be a combination of forms 3 and 4. preliminaries will compete against each other with the winners progressing to the quarter-finals. Schools will be notified by e-mail as to the date and time of their scheduled competition. All participants are required to arrive one (1) hour before taping (preliminaries only) and two (2) hours before live broadcast (quarter-finals to finals). Ten points will de deducted from the overall quiz score for failure to arrive as scheduled. th Registration period is Monday 20 October to Thursday 21st November 2015. QUALIFICATION ROUND Teams representing the participating schools will be required to sit a qualification test to make it to the preliminaries. The students will be asked to complete 40 questions in 1 hour. This will be done using a computerised system which records the individual and overall team scores as well as the cumulative time taken by the team to complete the test. A controlled and supervised testing area will be provided. Students must represent their teams in full school uniform. Each team will be required to sign in at the registration desk upon arrival at each stage of the competition. No school will be allowed to participate without a teacher or official school representative present. In addition no student is permitted to wander the competition venue without a liaison.
