21st – 22nd February 2015 Bells Sports Centre, Perth Gymnast Entry Pack Competition Regulations & Procedures The following regulations and procedures MUST be adhered to at all times. Please note that FIG regulations will apply at all Scottish Competitions unless stated otherwise. Health and Safety: The safety of all participants (gymnasts, coaches and officials) is the primary consideration. SG policies will be rigorously applied with regards to health, safety and welfare and child protection. Age Groups Senior gymnasts will compete on the Senior FIG code of points whilst Juniors compete on the Junior FIG or modified code (e.g. British Junior Code). Please check when entering the rules specific to that competition. 2015 Age Groups Boys (11 & 12) Intermediate (13 & 14) Youth (15 & 16) Junior (17 & 18) Senior (Over 18) Year Born 2004 & 2003 2002 & 2001 2000 & 1999 1998 & 1997 1996 & earlier 2014 Age Groups Espoir (12 & 13) Junior (14 &15) Senior (Over 16) Year Born 2003 & 2002 2001 & 2000 1999 & earlier NB: The age in brackets indicates the age a gymnast turns in the year of competition Eligibility of Coaches Coaches on the competition floor must be members of SG or BG and qualified to coach Men’s or Women’s Artistic Gymnastics at Level 2 or higher and appropriate to the level of performance of their gymnast. It is the responsibility of clubs to ensure the person being put on the competition floor as coach is suitably qualified. Assistant Coaches (Level 1) are allowed on the competition floor but may only undertake the following roles: pastoral care of the gymnasts, moving equipment (springboards, mats etc.), adjusting apparatus and presenting gymnast numbers. Coaches must only allow their gymnasts to perform elements that they are qualified to coach and only coaches who are qualified to do so may spot a gymnast. Disclosure (PVG)/Safeguarding: Coaches without an up to date Safeguarding certificate and a current Disclosure (PVG) Record will not be eligible to take gymnasts on to the competition floor or accompany gymnasts to events. The Scottish Gymnastics office and Competition Organiser must be informed in advance of any changes made to the nominated coach for a competition. Where, through unforeseen circumstances, this is not possible, or where information has not been previously supplied then the following procedure will apply: The stand-in coach must inform the Floor Manager on arrival at the venue. The stand-in coach must produce their valid BG/SG membership card. The stand-in coach must produce a current PVG/CRB certificate. The competition organiser (or a nominated representative), have a duty to challenge unsafe practice but the ultimate responsibility on the competition floor is with the coach. In extreme cases, where a coach does not respond to the concerns being expressed, the organisers could stop the gymnast competing and remove the coach from the competition floor. Failure to adhere to these criteria will result in the withdrawal of the gymnast and is likely to negate the coach’s Gymnastics Insurance. Eligibility of Gymnasts Gymnasts must be Competitive members of Scottish Gymnastics in order to enter a Scottish Gymnastics competition. Nationality Please note that only gymnasts who satisfy the Scottish Gymnastics Nationality requirements may be awarded any individual ranking, title or medals at the Scottish Championships. Gymnasts who are members of Clubs registered with Scottish Gymnastics and training in Scotland who do not fulfil these requirements will still be allowed to enter as a guest. Guest gymnasts based out with Scotland will be allowed to compete at the discretion of the organisers. Competition Entries Please note gymnasts are entered on the programme in the order submitted on the entry form. When multiple teams are being entered from a club please ensure they are, if relevant, ranked appropriately. All entries should be sent to the Scottish Gymnastics office on or before the closing date and must be completed in full, as instructed All entries MUST be made on an official Scottish Gymnastics entry form and submitted electronically with all details completed correctly and accompanied by FULL payment. Closing dates as detailed on the entry forms will be strictly adhered to. Incomplete or incorrect entries, those not on the official entry form and those not accompanied by full payment will be returned to the named contact. The fees for each competition will be stated in the competition rules section of the entry pack and must be sent in with the official entry form. All cheques should be made payable to Scottish Gymnastics. Competition entry forms and fees must be received before the published closing date or the entry will be considered a late entry and a penalty charge will be due. Late Entries The Competition Organiser reserves the right not to accept late entries, and if they do choose to accept a late entry it must be accompanied by the applicable penalty charge of £50.00. In any event late entries are unlikely to be accepted once the competition programme has been completed. Late entries received in the SGA office before the programme is made up may be included in the competition at the discretion of the competition officer on payment of the £50 penalty fee. Late entries received in the SGA office after the programme is made up may be held on a waiting list in order of acceptance by the Competition Organiser. The Competition Organiser will replace any withdrawals with names taken from this list as spaces become available in the appropriate section/age group. A double entry fee should be submitted with the entry. Gymnasts submitted as late entries will go into the place vacated by a withdrawing gymnast unless that gymnast was seeded in which case she will compete in a group at the organiser’s discretion. The organiser reserves the right to refuse any entry and disqualify a competitor or team at any time if they do not comply with Scottish Gymnastics regulations. Withdrawal from Competition If coaches are faced with the withdrawal of a Gymnast / Team from competition, coaches are required to notify the Performance Department via the Scottish Gymnastics office or competition venue by telephone, letter or email before the start of the competition that the gymnast/team is unable to participate because of injury or illness. Judging Provision All Judges at Scottish Gymnastics competitions must be members of Scottish and/or British Gymnastics. If a club does not have a Men's Artistic judge or cannot provide one, the penalty fee of £70 must be paid when submitting the competition entry. This does not apply to Women’s Artistic. Only clubs entering a competition for the first time can request an exemption from these rules by applying to the Technical Panel Judging Office in writing. Appeals on D Jury (Start Value) score Any queries on the start value (D score) must be made to the Head Judge of the apparatus in question in the first instance. If this does not resolve the issue then coaches may appeal formally to the Jury of Appeal for a final decision. Coaches may approach the judges’ table, but not whilst an exercise is in progress and must immediately leave the judges’ table if requested. The E jury score cannot be disputed or appealed. Formal appeals should be made in writing to the appointed person at the event accompanied with a fee of £20.00. Any appeals must be submitted within 15 minutes of the presentation of the score. An Appeal Pro Forma will be available on request at the Competition Score Desk. Only official video evidence will be accepted at the Scottish Championships at the discretion of the Jury of Appeal. Apparatus Finals Procedures All gymnasts selected for Apparatus Finals will be notified at the end of the All Around competition and will be required to remain in the competition area to confirm their attendance at the apparatus finals, in order that the Competition Organiser can ensure any reserves can be informed. Failure to be present to confirm attendance at Apparatus Finals at the end of the All Around competition will result in gymnasts being replaced. Competition Trophies Recipients of an annual trophy must ensure they are carefully looked after and are properly inscribed, cleaned and returned in time for presentation to the next holder by either returning it to the Competition Organiser one week prior to the competition, or returning it to the Scottish Gymnastics office at least one week prior to the competition. Returning the trophy on the day of the competition can only be done with the permission of the Competition Organiser. If a trophy is lost or stolen, please inform Scottish Gymnastics immediately. Failure to return a trophy or returning a trophy in a poor condition will result in a charge being made to cover the cost of replacing the original. Drugs Testing All members must abide by Scottish Gymnastics and British Gymnastics Anti-Doping Policies. Details can be found on the SG or BG website or by getting in contact with the governing body. General Competition Information & Guidelines Competition Area and Competitor Seating Only coaches, gymnasts & officials will be allowed access to the competition area during the competition warm-up and the competition. Spectators must confine themselves to the seating area and will not be allowed into the competition area. At each competition, an area(s) will be set aside for the seating of competitors and coaches to use whilst the competition is in progress. Once competitors have entered the competition area, authorisation to leave must be approved by the Head Judge or Competition Organiser. Registration On the day of the competition, coaches will be required to register their gymnasts at a time/place as detailed in the competition programme. Coaches will be provided with gymnast numbers and competition information. Gymnasts’ numbers should be displayed to the judges before competing and where possible to the announcer. Coaches Technical Briefing Meeting Before the start of each round of competition (as notified by the competition organiser) a technical briefing will take place. The timing of this meeting will be stated in the event programme. Attendance at technical briefing is compulsory. Order of Performance At Individual competitions, gymnasts should perform as per the competition programme for the first rotation. In the second and each subsequent rotation, the order of performance can drop down in order that the gymnast who started the previous round will perform last and the next gymnast will begin the round. This will be at the discretion of the coaches. Gymnasts Attire Regulations of dress are contained in the F.I.G Code of Points. Jewellery No jewellery, body piercing or adornments of any kind are permitted in training or competition. Gymnasts will not be allowed to compete at any Scottish gymnastics event with jewellery on. Tall Gymnasts Both bars may be raised by 5cm or 10cm where a gymnast’s feet touch the basic matting while she is hanging on high bar or hips touch the basic matting while she is hanging on the low bar. Where a single bar is used this may be raised so that the gymnasts feet in long hang clear the matting. The request for bars to be raised must be made with the competition entry form. The bars must be raised in accordance with the F.I.G regulations. Unauthorised raising of the bars will be penalised in accordance with F.I.G regulations Apparatus Unless otherwise stated, the equipment at the Scottish Championships will be to current FIG specifications. The equipment provider for this event will be Gymnova. Codes of Conduct Judges’ Code of Conduct Judges are expected to march into the competition arena prior to the march in of the competing gymnasts, unless notified otherwise. Judges should keep their tables clean and only have on the table items required for judging, keeping all outdoor clothing and bags stored out of sight. Judges are required to stay at their judging table until gymnasts have marched out of the arena and stay at the venue until released by the Competition Organiser in case they are required to assist with the checking of scores. Gymnasts’ Code of Conduct All gymnasts are to be dressed in accordance with current FIG and SG Regulations for all competitors. For example, all competitors in a team must be uniformly dressed. Clothing indicating National Team representation should not be worn by gymnasts or coaches at domestic competition. Gymnasts must not remove leotards until they are in the competitors' seating area. Any gymnasts found breaking this rule will receive a deduction for an attire violation in accordance as per FIG code of points. During march round, gymnasts are expected to proceed neatly and in line as directed by competition officials. All competitors are expected to enter the arena ‘smartly dressed’. Gymnasts should wear either a zipped club tracksuit or leotard, Men’s Artistic Gymnasts should wear with appropriate leggings or shorts. Nonuniformed t-shirts and outdoor shoes are not accepted for march on. All bags and equipment relating to performance should be stowed at the gymnasts seating area for the first piece of apparatus. Gymnasts should ensure that long hair is tied back, and must ensure that all jewellery is removed and any tattoos are covered up. Coaches’ Code of Conduct Coaches are expected to maintain a high standard of dress. Standard dress would include trainers, fulllength tracksuit bottoms, t-shirt or polo shirt and tracksuit top / fleece identifiable with their own club logo. Coaches should ensure that long hair is tied back, and must ensure that all jewellery is removed (or adequately covered up) and any tattoos are covered up. Coaches must ensure that they have switched off their mobile telephones whilst in the competition arena. Coaches must ensure that their language and behaviour at all times is appropriate, reflecting highly on their club, themselves and the sport. Coaches are not permitted to eat or chew whilst in the competition arena. Spectators’ Code of Conduct: Clubs should take responsibility for the behaviour of their members and supporters. Spectators must: Switch off mobile phones during the competition. Remain supportive throughout the competition, and must not interfere with other spectators’ enjoyment or disturb any of the gymnasts. Keep video cameras in the spectator area (unless previous arrangements have been made by the Competition Organiser). Refrain from moving about the arena whilst gymnasts are competing. Treat the competition venues with respect, particularly in respect of food and drink rules. Respect all competitors, clubs, coaches and families Any spectators in breach of this code of conduct may be removed from the arena and refunds will not be given Date Event Closing Date Sat 21st & Sun 22nd Feb Men’s Artistic Scottish Championships Fri 9th Jan Venue Bells Sports Centre, Hay Street, Perth, PH1 5HS Eligibility & Format Age Groups & Code Pre-competition training Apparatus Finals Judging Entry Fee Individual All Around & Apparatus Championships Gymnasts must be competitive members of SG Day 1 - All Around and Qualification for Apparatus Finals Individual All Around 1st, 2nd, 3rd award for each age group. The Senior Champion will be awarded the Jack Harrower Trophy. Day 2 - Apparatus Finals for Intermediate, Youth, Junior, Senior Individual Apparatus 1st, 2nd, 3rd award for each final with the Harrower Memorial Shields presented to the senior apparatus champions. British code will be used for all age groups (see BG MAG Competition Handbook) Senior, Junior, and Youth: Senior FIG Code Intermediate: Junior FIG Code with GBR exceptions and amendments. For qualification to and in Vault Finals, 2 different vaults which can be from same category, height 125cm Boys: British Under 12 Code. One vault, height 120cm Friday 20th February from 6pm to 8pm. Please check with SG prior to your departure to ensure these times have not changed. Only gymnasts in the Senior, Junior, Youth, and Intermediate age groups are eligible to compete in the Apparatus finals on Day 2 The top 6 gymnasts from each age group are eligible for Apparatus Finals excluding gymnasts in the Boys age group Gymnasts intending to be considered for the Vault Final must compete two vaults and the club/coach must declare this at registration prior to the start of the All Around/Qualification competition. Should the entry in any of the Senior, Junior, or Youth age groups be less than 6 gymnasts the event organisers reserve the right to combine any of these Apparatus Finals age groups in the interest of maintaining a high standard of event. The number of finalists will still be limited to the top 6 ranked gymnasts from the combined age groups. Day 2 - Apparatus Finals for Espoir, Junior, Senior Individual Apparatus 1st, 2nd, 3rd award for each final with the Apparatus Shields presented to the apparatus champions in each age group. Senior: Full FIG competition rules Espoir & Junior: Junior FIG Code (please see Vault clarification below) Espoir Gymnasts will be allowed hard and soft turbo boards Floor music is stored on the Scot Gymdata database so if your gymnast has competed in a previous event they are not required to submit music again unless they have different music. Floor music must be provided on a clean CD with the gymnasts name and competition number clearly shown on the CD and case. Floor music can also be e-mailed to the competition organiser prior to the event taking place. Please note the use of Disney, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Cirque de Soleil as floor music is not permitted – for further details refer to www.ppluk.com and www.mcps-prsalliance.co.uk Friday 20th February from 6pm to 8pm. Please check with SG prior to your departure to ensure these times have not changed. The top 6 gymnasts from each age group are eligible for Apparatus Finals Gymnasts intending to be considered for the Vault Final must compete two vaults and the club/coach must declare this at registration prior to the start of the All Around/Qualification competition. Espoir – 2 different vaults (May be from the same group) Junior – 2 vaults from different groups Senior – As per FIG The average of the two vaults will count towards qualification for finals. £50 per gymnast (Senior, Junior, or Espoir age groups) £25 per team
