INVITATION
Weather risk is one of the major uncertainties affecting the
performance and management of agricultural systems.
Climatic variability, climate change and the occurrence of
extreme weather events are likely to increase agriculture risk.
Understanding of climate variability, climate change and
extreme weather events is a pre-requisite for the development
of adaptation strategies for agriculture risk management. The
increasing frequency of recurring drought, erratic behavior of
monsoon, high intensity rains, reduced number of rainy days,
and occurrence of long dry spells, frost and hailstorm has
substantial economical losses. Management of production
risks under changing climate is the need of the hour and may
be achieved by adaptation of new agricultural management
options like conservation agriculture, weather based agro
advisories, integrated approach and use of biochar etc..
Therefore, special attention needs to be paid to identify,
evolve, adopt and demonstrate the new agro-technologies,
which are able to cope up with difficult situations arising due to
increased weather and climate risks. With this background,
The Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, College of
Agriculture, Tikamgarh is organizing a National seminar on
“Weather and Climate Risks in Agriculture under
Changing Climate: Management and Mitigation”, Which
will provide a common platform to climate experts, agriculture
experts, planners, researchers, administrator and technology
developers to exchange their views on the subject.
CALL FOR PAPERS
Abstracts are invited on the following thematic areas:
THEMES
i) Weather risks and climate change
Extreme weather events and their frequency, climate
variability and change.
ii) Weather and associate production risk assessment
Impact of extreme weather events on crop growth and
yields, Impact of climate variability and change on crop yield,
fruit & vegetable production and animal health, new tools
and techniques for risk characterization.
iii) Minimizing the risks
Agricultural response to the observed climate variability,
Use of climate ready crops, breeding technology for biotic &
abiotic risk management, heat and drought escaping
cultivars, Microclimate management options.
IV) Management options
Crop-modeling, Weather and pest-disease forecasting,
Use of agromet advisory services, Conservation
agriculture, Integrated soil, water, nutrient, pest-disease
and weed management.
v) Mitigation options
Weather insurance, Policy options for risk mitigation,
Technological options and Govt. initiative for risk mitigation,
technological & extension options for mitigation,
economical and social aspects.
SUBMISSION OF ABSTARCT
Soft copy of the abstract indicating the theme, title, author(s)
name followed by their address and email should be in MS
Word (single space, Times New Roman Font, size 12) and
not exceeding 500 words may be send only by email

presenting author's name needs to be underlined.
Acceptance for both oral and poster presentations will be
communicated through email only.
ACCOMODATION
Accommodation will be arranged in local hotels on payment
basis. The hotel traffic in Tikamgarh is in range of Rs.6001000 for non-AC and Rs1500-2500 for AC rooms. Request
for hotel accommodation should be mentioned in the
registration form.

ABOUT TIKAMGARH
Tikamgarh is located on the bank of Jamdar and Betwa rivers.
It is famous for ancient temples and soft rock layers. The
tourist attractions near Tikamgarh includes Kundeshwar
(2.5km), Madkhera (15km), Orcha (80Km), and Khajuraho
(135km) temples.
WEATHER
Dry weather prevail during second week of March at
Tikamgarh. The maximum temperature ranges from 31.1 to
33.4°C and minimum between 13.1 and 13.9 °C.
HOW TO REACH
College of Agriculture is 56 km from Lalitpur (LAR) railway
station and 100 km from Jhansi (JHS) railway station.
Khajuraho (HJR) is the nearest (135km) airbase from
Tikamgarh. Buses/Cars are available from both the railway
stations and airbase to Tikamgarh.
