Mature osteoclasts were infected with S. aureus reference
strain 8325-4 for 2 h at an MOI of 10:1.
After infection, microscopic evaluation showed that
S. aureus was able to adhere to mature osteoclasts. The
actin cytoskeleton of the cells was counterstained with
phalloidin (red), nuclei were stained with Hoechst (blue)
and staphylococci were labelled with Vancomycin-bodipy
(Invitrogen) (green) (See Trouillet-Assant et al,
pp. 571–81).
