Your contribution is an investment in a child’s future…the outcomes speak for themselves. Our schools offer an instructional environment that challenges the mind, while inspiring and strengthening the spirit. Please consider supporting our students for the 2015-16 school year; you can designate the gift as a memorial or in honor of someone special, select a particular school to receive it, or let us put it where it is needed most. Contributions can be sent to the Diocese of Scranton Scholarship Foundation, 300 Wyoming Avenue, Scranton PA 18503. Catholic Schools Week January 25-31, 2015 Celebrate Catholic Schools Week by attending one of our Catholic School Open Houses! WE ARE A PARISH COMMUNITY COMMITTED TO HELPING THOSE IN NEED. Eucharistic Outreach / Divine Mercy Table / Social Concerns Committee / Food Pantry Support / Blood Drive / Holiday Donations / Souper Bowl of Caring From the Social Concerns Committee… During the holidays, the Social Concerns Committee was able to provide some Christmas Cheer to our Home Bound Parishioners as well as the Nursing Homes located within our Parish. Our Home-Bound Residents received a beautiful Poinsettia as well as a handmade Lap Cover or other Gift. The Nursing Homes Recreation Department was gifted $100 to treat the Residents to a party and/or movies, etc. The Residents greatly appreciate your thoughtfulness to them by sharing the Christmas Spirit. Thank you to the Committee Members who generously gave of themselves on a rainy Christmas Eve morning to gift our Parishioners with your presents!! The Greatest Gift Do you have a family member or neighbor who cannot leave their home to attend Mass and receive the Blessed Sacrament? Our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are here to serve your loved ones by bringing them the gift of Christ Himself, the greatest gift that can be given. This is Catholic Schools Week, jointly sponsored by the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. To learn more about this celebration visit ncea.org/news/CatholicSchoolsWeek.asp. I found these words from C.S. Lewis and I will share them with you on this third Sunday in Ordinary Time. “Fallen man is not simply an imperfect creature who needs improvement: he is a rebel who must lay down his arms. Laying down your arms, surrendering, saying you are sorry, realizing that you have been on the wrong track and getting ready to start life over again from the ground floor is the only way out of a hole. This process of surrender, this movement of full speed astern, is what Christian call repentance.” Have a great week! Important January Dates January 28 - Commission Meeting - 7:00 PM SUNDAY EVENING PRAYER EVERY SUNDAY AT 6:00PM In recognition of our need to give, and the many needs of our church and parish, and in gratitude for God’s gifts to us, we declare our willingness to return a portion of our Treasure to our parish, as part of our total Christian stewardship.
