Children with SPD often require a daily routine that incorporates various calming and organizing activities referred
to as a Sensory Diet. It is essential that therapists, clinicians, teachers, and parents have a comprehensive set of
practical and proven sensory-based strategies necessary to create a Sensory Diet that is effective across all functional
environments. This exciting, hands-on workshop will provide participants with the latest conceptual and practical
information to be able to further understand and obtain a complete picture of a child’s sensory functioning at home,
school or virtually any setting. Every child is different, and when one treatment plan may work for one, it may be
ineffective for another. Using the latest assessment tools, treatment strategies and real life case studies, participants
will be able to immediately create and implement a specifically designed Sensory Diet (a.k.a. sensory modulation)
upon return to your practice or home. Using certain types of tactile objects, foods and smells to music, sounds and
movement you will be able to individualize an activity schedule that a child needs to stay focused and organized
throughout the day and keep the body functioning at its optimal level.
About Your Program Instructor
Donna Schulman, MS, OTR/L, is an occupational therapist with over 20 years experience treating children with a
variety of disabilities including autism, ADHD, and sensory processing disorders. Ms. Schulman is the owner of The
Pediatric Therapy Clinic in Georgia & Palacios Pediatric Therapy Clinic in Texas, providing speech and occupational
therapy to the pediatric population with developmental disabilities. In addition to her extensive experience with
screening, evaluating and treating students Ms. Schulman has consulted with teachers regarding IEP and RTI
objectives, led department team meetings and provided in-service trainings. Ms. Schulman currently specializes in
researching and providing the latest information regarding the various domains necessary for milestone development
and the most current research-based therapy interventions to her patients. An effective mentor to students during
fieldwork placements, Ms. Schulman has worked with special needs children in public school classrooms, rehabilitation
hospitals, and hand clinics and has presented information to teachers on the topic of fine motor skill development.
Ms. Schulman received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Texas Medical
Branch in Galveston and received a Master of Science degree in Psychology from California Coast University.

Physical Therapists - CT: This course meets the continuing education standards set out for physical therapists
and assistants by the Connecticut Department of Public Health, 6.0 hours. NJ: This course has been submitted
to the New Jersey State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners for approval, 6.0 hours. NY: Summit Professional
Education has been approved by the New York State Education Department Office of the Professions Board
for Physical Therapy to offer continuing education for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants. This

SATISFACTORY COMPLETION
Participants must pay tuition fee, sign in, attend the entire seminar, complete an evaluation and sign out in order
