Our children are exhibiting epic levels of anxiety at home, at school, and on the playground. More children are being
diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and oppositional
and defiant disorder than ever before. As a result, parents, therapists and educators witness children struggling with
interpersonal difficulties, decreased attention and focus in the classroom, sleep disorders, depression, anxiety, and
negative effects of medication. Not equipped to problem-solve such difficulties, children communicate their needs
in challenging ways and are often labeled as a “behavioral problem.” Further, a child with early emotional and social
challenges often becomes a teenager with low self-esteem, substance abuse issues, anti-social behaviors, and
difficulties attending to self-care routines and employment through adulthood.
This interactive one-day workshop will present sensory integration techniques to bring relief to children struggling with
anxiety and challenging emotions. Participants will explore strategies that can be applied across the spectrum of child
development for improved communication, enhanced learning, and reduced frustration for the child, parent, teacher
and therapist. Through hands-on activities and interactive discussion, participants will receive treatment techniques
to immediately support problem solving and self-regulation in the classroom, playground, public events, and home.
Participants will return with the tools to build a foundation for greater success and function in all areas throughout the
child’s life.
