Charles C. Flippen II, MD, FAAN, is a faculty member
of the Headache Research and Treatment Program at
the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, attending
neurologist at the Olive View-UCLA Medical Center and
professor of neurology at the Geffen School of Medicine
at UCLA where he is the director the residency program
in clinical neurology.
Flippen is a diplomate of Adult Neurology of the
American Board of Psychiatry (ABPN) and Neurology
and of Headache Medicine of the United Council of
Neurologic Specialties. He is a member of the American
Headache Society, International Headache Society,
Fellow of the American Neurological Association, and
Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN),
where he is active in headache education having directed
several courses and as chair of the Headache Topic Work
Group of the Education Committee, and AAN Foundation
Minority Scholars Program. He also serves on the Quality
and Safety Subcommittee and served on Nomination
Committee of the AAN.
In addition to his activity on the AAN Education
committee, he represents the ABPN on the Neurology
Residency Review Committee (RCC) of the Accreditation
Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), is
conducting education research funded by the ABPN
Faculty Fellowship award, and serves on several
intramural committees charged with curricular
innovation in the Geffen School of Medicine.
Flippen is also active within the general Los Angeles
community through his service as a trustee of the
Carlthorp School, board member of 100 Black Men of
Los Angeles, assistant scoutmaster and Merit Badge
counselor for Troop 223 (Pacific Palisades) of the Boy
Scouts of America, West Region Health and Wellness
committee member for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.,
and member of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
