Crumb Rubber has a state of the art recycling and
manufacturing plant in County Louth, on the North
East coast of Ireland. Situated close to the major
ports of Belfast and Dublin we can access markets
abroad and ship our products by pallet, truck and
container, to anywhere worldwide.
THE PROCESS:
OLD TYRES
Set up in 2003 Crumb Rubber is the only facility of its kind in Ireland. It
has a full recycling plant which takes tyres of any size, from car up to
the large earth movers, out of the waste stream and recycles them into
eco friendly granulate and matting products. Crumb Rubber work
closely with University College Cork and the EPA (Environmental
Protection Agency) to continue to make our recycling activity as energy
efficient as possible. We fully utilise all of the material released on
breaking up tyres in this process which means that Crumb Rubber make
useful products from every piece of this valuable resource.
We collect waste tyres from tyre outlets all over Ireland and have trailers
available for our larger clients to make high volume pick ups easier.
Once granulated and screened for quality control, the product is
segregated into granulate for the equestrian, garden, sports and
childcare sectors and other granulate is sent for further processing to
make safety matting. The matting will make surfaces safer, cleaner and
quieter for the construction, equestrian, agricultural, childcare, rail,
industrial, pet and home sectors. Having control over the raw material
and the manufacturing process means we can produce a wide range of
eco friendly sector specific products and we can easily adapt products to
customer requirements at production. Our research and development
team are always busy working on new products designed to suit our
clients’ individual specifications.

Crumb Rubber matting and Chippings make
childrens’ play areas safe, durable and easy to keep

Crumb Rubber Mats are fully tested to BS EN 1177
standard for use in playgrounds. This makes them the
ideal choice of crèches and playgrounds. The mats can
be colour coded to help manage the traffic flow in the
playground. You can use different colours to separate

mats to help make pit coverage more efficient
and give you better quality silage.
Designed to replace waste tyres on silage pits, the
mats are a welcome step forward for pit
management. Tyres are generally cumbersome and a
potential contamination point, holding stagnant
water and attracting vermin. Tyres also leave large
areas of exposed plastic which birds can pick holes
in, allowing air to spoil sections of the pit. The risk
of puncturing the plastic from stray tyre wire is also
now a thing of the past.

EQUINE MATS
Cushioned anti-slip durable surfaces
Crumb Rubber mats have numerous
applications for equestrian facilities.
Our mats create an ultra safe surface for horses
when stabled, on the walker, moving around the
yard and for loading. The mats are cushioned and
anti slip which gives you the optimum grip
underfoot for your horse. They can also be fitted
around and under equipment in veterinary boxes.
They offer excellent support for horses on box rest

When used in stables the mats will greatly reduce

small bed in the back third of your stable to keep
your horse and stable clean, cut mucking out time

Crumb Rubber for turf and artifical grass surfaces
Crumb Rubber soil conditioner is the ultimate pitch
aggregate to upgrade your surface.
The system reduces your maintenance, eliminates compaction,
increases traction and improves your surfaces performance.
Our granulate is graded and screened to give you clean
aggregate at a size that best suits your needs. We can
manufacture rubber granulate to a range of sizes to
solve a number of problems.
Rubber granulate, once screened, is a very clean product
and can take over in turf applications where sand leaves
off. Traditionally sand has been used on grass to aerate
the soil and improve growth, but sand breaks down and
can be abrasive to both the crown of the grass and
those playing on it. Using rubber allows you to do
so much more as the rubber doesn’t compress, is
insulating and holds its cushioning properties.

Reducing noise polution on rail lines
Extensive testing of Crumb Rubber sound
proofing mats has produced excellent results in
reducing noise pollution on rail lines.
Our noise absorption mats out performed other
methods currently being used to absorb noise on the
LUAS line.(Irish Tram network)
The Rail matting now comes in an even more
effective specification which brings the level of the
mat even closer to the top of the rail, further
increasing the level of noise reduction achieved.

Heated Dog Mats
Our heated Rubber dog mats are made to high spec to
give your dog the ultimate in comfort, while giving you a
mat that’s easy to clean and very cheap to run (1 cent per
hour). By heating the dog from underneath it is a much
more cost effective way to keep them warm. Overhead
heat lamps have to heat the air from above before they
get to warm your dog, whereas the mats will heat your
dog directly. Your dog will learn very quickly that the
best place to sleep is on the warm mat!

Rubber Dog Mats
Some dogs will not need a heated mat. The regular
Rubber dog mat is ideal to keep you dog more
insulated and off cold surfaces. Like the Heated mat it
can be hosed and brushed down making it so easy to
keep clean. It can also be disinfected. One difference

Our hydrophobic matting can be installed with
sealant at the joints and edges to give you a floor
surface that will not allow any moisture through.
With a special dual installation process we can give you
a floor that has all the comfort and durability our
customers have come to expect, with the added
advantage of being waterproof throughout. The finish
is anti slip and can easily be power washed to clean.
With these mats we can achieve a more durable
surface than traditional poured in place systems, as we
use heavily compressed matting, to give your surface

A tile with bumps on its surface, that
alerts the visually impaired that a road
crossing is imminent. Traditionally these
tiles have been made from concrete,
which tends to crack when vehicles cross
their edges. Our rubber Tactile is durable
