From the Superintendent
It is not too early to mark your calendars with
the date of the Cold Spring Education
Foundation's annual spring event! This year
it will be held at the beautiful El Encanto
Hotel on April 11, 2015. The event will
include dinner, dancing, and a silent/live
auction. This fundraiser directly benefits
Cold Spring students by helping to ensure
that our Specialist Programs - technology,
art, music, physical education, and library continue as a critical part of the curriculum.
So save that date to come to the stunning
Santa Barbara Riviera, celebrate with friends,
and contribute to the rich educational
experience at Cold Spring School!
Science Fair Deadline is Friday
There’s still time to sign up for
the Science Fair, which takes
place on Thursday, January 29,
during the school day for
students and from 6:30-7:30
pm for the whole family. Here’s
what to do:
1. Complete and submit an entry form and
turn in by the deadline (attached and
also available at the office).
2. Do experiments to find out the answer.
3. Report your findings on a tri-fold display
and bring it to the fair for everyone to

see. (White tri-fold presentation boards
will be available in the office for a $3.00
donation.)
4. Come to the evening fair where there
will be a raffle, demonstrations, and ice
cream.
The CSS Science Fair is not judged, but is required
by some upper grade teachers. Check with your
student's teacher to find out if participation in
required. All participants will receive a certificate
and ribbon. The evening of the Science Fair there
will be science demonstrations, time to browse
the projects, and of course, ice cream made via
the liquid nitrogen method.
We look forward to encouraging our students to
think scientifically about our world!

Lost and Found?
There is a small pink Raleigh Rowdy bicycle
parked on our bike rack that seems to have been
forgotten or lost by its owner. This bike has been
sitting unclaimed since before winter break and
we are are hoping to get this bike back to its
owner soon. If it continues to go unclaimed, it will
be donated to a local charity.
