These statements each express the heart of Jesus and the things He was most interested in. Notice what truths these seven statements contain. 1. Forgiveness... Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." And they divided His garments and cast lots. Luke 23:34 2. Heaven… And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise." Luke 23:43 3. Family… When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, "Woman, behold your son!" Then He said to the disciple, "Behold your mother!" And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home. John 19:26-27 4. Separation… And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" that is, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" Matthew 27:46 5. Fulfillment of Scripture...After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accom- MINISTRY STAFF Ben Bailey 743-4807 Minister Joshua Pierce 743-5147 Youth Minister Tom Watson (615) 604-1602 Counselor Sunday, January 25, 2015 plished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I thirst!" John 19:28 6. Completion...So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. John 19:30 7. Submission...And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, "Father, 'into Your hands I commit My spirit.' " Having said this, He breathed His last. Luke 23:46 We just made it back from a great weekend at EU (Evangelism University). This year at EU our 9th-12th graders learned about being a vine. John 15:1-5 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. .Remain in me, as I also remain in you. It was a very uplifting weekend. Everyone who went learned how to evangelize and be a true Vine! Hike with Mike is this Saturday the 24th. We always have an awesome hike. This year Mike has a special trip planned. We will leave at 8 A.M. and be back around 5 P.M. We will be going to Chattanooga and everyone will need to bring $5 plus money for one meal. You will also need to bring a packed light lunch and some water for the Hike. Last years hike was truly amazing and this years will be just as awesome.
