SUNDAY
C.E.O. CORNER
This was my 20th year as the hospital administrator and I want to thank everyone for their hard work
and support. We have busy times and slow times but we still have to watch the pennies. This year was
probably the biggest in change that I can remember, going completely electronic. I know it hasn’t been easy
and there are a lot of changes, but thanks to everyone. It took a team effort to get
through Meaningful Use Stage 1. It doesn’t stop, we have to maintain Stage 1 and gear
up for Stage 2. Just keep working together and we will survive this technological storm.
I definitely want to thank everyone that helped over the holidays. I know that
we have been busy, but we must remember customer service. Communication is the
key for all employees. Whether it is between the staff and a patient, patient’s family, or
another staff member, communication makes everything work smoother.
I am hoping that the changes within nursing will also give all departments some extra
backing during the night and weekend shifts. Instead of a “Charge Nurse” or a “Resource Nurse”, we now
have “shift supervisors” on the nights and weekends. All departments should still follow your chain of
command, but the shift supervisors will be able to help with customer service and other issues that can’t wait.
Although we have to utilize the chain of command, any time (as employees) you feel
that I should be notified, please feel free to contact me. As many of you know, if I am helping
with cattle or other family events, I may not have my cell phone on me, but I do check it
frequently. If you call me from the hospital, please leave a note at registration as to whom I
need to talk to; being from a small community and going to a lot of school/community
functions, I want to be forewarned if we have a problem at the hospital.
PLAQUE PRESENTED

The loss of a family member is never easy, so when Rich Hampton passed away unexpectedly, the
entire Boyd Healthcare Services family felt it. We all knew Rich as happy, humble, and an amazing Paramedic,
he will be greatly missed. EMS had a special plaque made with donated funds for Rich’s family that was
presented to his son, Eric, on December 31, 2014; thank you to everyone that contributed.
FOOLS RAFFLE
The Boyd Foundation will be hosting the “Fools Raffle” again this year! Tickets are $50 each or three
for $100; prizes of $100 (5), $250 (4), $500 (3), $1,000 (1), and grand prize of $5,000 to be drawn on April 1,
2015. The early-bird drawing of $1,000 was held on December 26, 2014 in the Reisch Memorial Dining Room
by Foundation President Kirby Ballard and C.E.O. Deborah Campbell; the winner was Kyleigh Schmidt,
daughter of Boyd Healthcare Services employee Sarah Schmidt. Tickets are available for purchase from anyone
on the Boyd Foundation board, Boyd Healthcare Services Board of Trustees, or Administration Office.

THANK YOU!
Bill Cox and family/friends of Sam Cox would like to sincerely thank anyone and everyone that has
been praying for their family during Sam’s recent surgery and hospitalization(s). He is on the road to recovery
and they are grateful for the support. Please keep up the good work!
IN THE MAIL
From time to time, we receive special notes from patients and/or other members
of our community. We recently received one from a woman that visited our Emergency
Room and stayed as inpatient for a short time; the card reads, “Thank you all for the excellent care. God
blessed me for your EMTs, CNAs, Nurses, Doctors – too many to name, so just say “you all”. God bless you all
in a special way, will ask add you to my prayer list.”
MURDER MYSTERY DINNER
Thomas H. Boyd Memorial Foundation is now planning for a new event! A Murder Mystery Dinner will
be held on March 28, 2015 at the Carrollton Knights of Columbus Hall; this will be a fundraising event and we
sincerely hope that you will consider attending with your friends and family. Tickets will go on sale March 1.
More details will be out soon, save the date!

You can drastically change a word with only changing one letter in the spelling; with a
different word, comes a much different definition. Examples follow.
Decafalon: The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.
Intaxication: Happiness at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.
Hipatitis: Terminal coolness.
