Apply
Apply online at www.nrc.ac.uk/course/apply or complete an application form and
return to Central Admissions
Acknowledgement
If you apply online, you will receive an automated acknowledgement and a copy
of your completed application for your records; if you apply by hard copy you will
receive an acknowledgement letter within 5 working days.
Interview
You will be invited to attend a compulsory individual/group interview. Interviews will take
place from January 2015 up until 20 August 2015 (GCSE Results Registration Day).
Offer
Any applicants interviewed between January 2015 and GCSE Results Registration
Day will either be given a Conditional Offer, subject to meeting entry requirements
and any other enhanced criteria, or a Firm Offer if the entry requirements are
already met.
Results
If you are waiting for GCSE Results, please attend the college on GCSE Results
Registration Day, Thursday, 20 August 2015 between 9.30am and 4.30pm with a copy
of your results. All applicants with conditional offers and those who have not yet
been interviewed should attend.
Firm
If you are successful in gaining a place on your chosen course, you will receive a
Firm Offer from the course tutor either on 20 August, GCSE Results Registration
Day or by Friday 21 August 2015 at the latest.
Clearing Day
If you are not successful in gaining a place on your first choice course, you will
be invited to attend Clearing day on Tuesday, 25 August from 10am to 4pm.
Friday, 28 August 2015, Enrolment Day, all applicants with a Firm offer should
attend on this day at 9am.

using our course search facility.
• If you are unsure which course to
choose then discuss your options
with one of our college careers’
advisors or alternatively your
school DEL careers’ advisor.
• Once you have decided which
course(s) you are interested in, either
complete the online application
at www.nrc.ac.uk/course/apply/
or complete the application form
in this booklet and return to any
campus reception.
• You may apply for a maximum of
2 courses.
• If you apply online your application
will be acknowledged immediately
by an automated message. A copy
of your completed application form
will also be emailed to you so you
have a record of your application.
• If you apply by hard copy
application you will receive an
acknowledgement letter within
5 working days.

Engineering
Dean Boyle – Concorde Cup
Dean Boyle was awarded the Concorde
Cup in June 2014 for the highest
grades in the Level 3 Extended Diploma
Manufacturing Engineering. Dean
also competed in the Worldskills CNC
Machining competition representing
NRC and McAuley Engineering and was
awarded the Regional Winner for Northern
Ireland in July 2014.

Jordan Hunter from Ballymena campus
won a top student of the year award for his
performance on the Engineering Career
Academy programme. The Sir Winfried
Bischoff Award comes from Career
Academies UK, a national education charity
that helps young people prepare for the
world of work through mentoring, workplace
visits, inspirational talks and internships.
Annual Irish Society Certificates
of Merit Awards
The Honourable Irish Society made their
annual visit to the Coleraine campus
to present special achievement awards
to the students in the vocational areas
of Construction and Business. The two
recipients were Arlene McMullan and
Amy Doherty who were recognised as
outstanding students in their Level 3
Extended Diploma courses.
Newtownabbey Borough Council
Sports Award
Foundation Art and Design students have
once again taken part in a competition to
design a trophy for the 2014 prestigious
Newtownabbey Borough Council sports
awards. This year the winning design came
from student Jennifer Wasson. Jennifer’s
design was manufactured in college and is
based on the concept of “blood sweat and
tears” combined with the strong underlay
image of the boxing glove showing both the
determination and fight needed to succeed.

Science and engineering, life sciences,
software development and creative
industries featured in the annual College
BEST (Business & Education through
Training & Skills) Awards. BEST Awards
winner in the 16-18 category (Media) were
Andrew Nicholl, Corey Agnew +11 team
members for The Clinic – a video about the
sexual health clinics within NRC.
Robert Hamilton scoops Gold Medal at
the WorldSkills UK The Skills Show
Robert Hamilton, the youngest
competitor in the Carpentry &
Joinery Skill Area was the gold
medal winner in this category at the
WorldSkills UK the Skills Show in
Birmingham. NRC Lecturer, Trevor
Kernohan commented “Robert is a
dedicated, hard working apprentice
who is fully deserving of his
success and credit must also go to
his employer Mr Rodney Turtle.”
First Class Design at NRC
Shelly Mullan stamps design
were discovered on line
by the internet Design
Company Stamp-Press.
co.uk who produces stamp
designs. From this Shelly was
approached and commissioned
to produce designs which will
be used commercially by Stamp
Press. Shelly is being paid a
commission for each stamp sold
and will retain the copyright to
her signs and credited by name.
Travel & Tourism Students Reach their Goal
Travel & Tourism Students, Kim Hamilton and
Maria McMullan both successfully completed
the Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Travel
and Tourism at the Magherafelt Campus
and are now studying a BA Hons Tourism
and Leisure Management at Liverpool John
Moore’s University. Both students found the
Level 3 course very enjoyable, in particular the
residential trip as it allowed the class to bond.
Beauty Therapy Students Journey
Lauren McAllister achieved Level 2 Beauty
Therapy and then progressed to level 3. In
the same year she also completed Level 3
