Professional Coaches
and Tutors
Cheshire Cricket Board Limited
Some of the practical elements of this Diploma will be delivered by professional ECB Level
3 Coaches and Tutors from the Cheshire Cricket Board. Students will enjoy up to six hours
of contact time with Cheshire Staff members between September and Easter, extending to
nine hours in the summer months or traditional ‘cricket season’.
What will I be doing?
Sessions will be tailored to meet the needs of the individual learner, with the practical
content of the Diploma divided between playing the game, learning to be an effective
leader and facilitating the development of cricket at all levels. A mentor from the Cheshire
Cricket Board will support you throughout the learning process, providing feedback on your
performance and helping to create a personal action plan.
Do I need to be good at cricket?
You will need to demonstrate an active interest in the sport and should be a regular playing
member at a Cheshire-affiliated club. The Diploma does not require you to attend a trial to
demonstrate your ability with bat and ball, only that you have a willingness to improve and
more importantly to inspire those around you to enjoy the game.
What additional opportunities are available to me?
There will be an opportunity to take external industry-regulated qualifications such as the
ECB Coach Support Worker, a UKCC2 in Coaching Children and a Level 1 Umpires
Award. In addition to this, students will shadow one of Cheshire’s professional staff in local
school and club environments, and have the opportunity to develop their interpersonal
skills by organising events and competitions that help participation levels in the sport.
