Here’s a brief description
of the tried and tested
Emthunzini fabrics.
To care for these fabrics hand
wash using cold water and
a mild liquid hand soap. Air
dry. Do not use Woolite® or
bleach. Do not dry clean.
MICROFIBRE: A synthetic,
lightweight, 100% polyester
fabric. Water repellent and
quick drying. POLY RIBBON: A 100%
polyester ribbon sewn
together in multiple layers.
Packable, crushable and
lightweight. POLY-STRAW & POLY
BRAID: The look of straw
in a breathable, crushable
polyester knit or braid.
RAFFIA: A natural palm leaf
fiber grown on the Island of

WHAT DOES UPF MEAN?
UPF testing
involves exposing a
fabric to Ultraviolet
Radiation (UVR)
and measuring how much
is transmitted through
the sample. Different
wavelengths of radiation
in the UVR spectrum have
different effects on human
skin and this is taken
into consideration when
calculating the UPF rating.

researched the market for a UPF50+ umbrella, that can comfortably be used
for maximum sun and rain protection on or off the golf course.
This umbrella has met the UPF50+ requirement,
carries the CAN/SA seal of approval and is a tough
lightweight umbrella. The shaft is re-inforced
fibreglass with a self opening mechanism for the
fibreglass stays. The covering is either silver or gold
coloured UPF50+ material sourced in Europe.

specialist”, the well-known and respected womens

Giving a little something back...
For the summer of 2011 Emthunzini Hats will be making a donation from every hat sold
to the formation of the XP Society in South Africa.
Xeroderma Pigmentosum, or XP, is a rare genetic disease whereby a person’s DNA lacks
the ability to repair damage from ultraviolet light. The disease leads to skin cancer as
early as childhood. Unless sun exposure is minimized, XP victims are likely to die of
malignant melanoma or squamous cell carcinoma.
Patients with XP have to be completely protected from the sunlight, failing which their
skin and eyes can be severely damaged. This rare, genetic disease has been indentified
in every ethnic group throughout the world, and if left undiagnosed, can lead to death.
