St. Michael Church RECONCILIATION (CONFESSION) Saturday Only (Or by appointment) 4:00-4:30PM St. Michael Church St. Michael Church and School, Waialua Church established 1853 School established 1944 Mission of Sts. Peter & Paul, Waimea Bay Established 1953 OFFICE HOURS Monday to Friday 9:00AM to 3:00PM CLOSED HOLIDAYS Sts. Michael and Sts. Peter Paul Ohana: The Gospel of Mark today tells us about Jesus who teaches as one having authority and the people recognize that immediately. Even more, Jesus commands unclean spirits and they obey Him. This scares the people and they are no longer certain that Jesus comes from God. They have become accustomed to a safe practice of their faith and the actions of Jesus begin to challenge their sense of security. Jesus challenges us! Faith in God is not about being secure. Faith in God is about having a living relationship with God, a personal relationship--and because of that relationship, doing the will of God in every aspect of our life. Far too often we hope that if we just do the right things, we can somehow achieve salvation. We need to become acutely aware of the difference between performing actions to appease God and acting out of a deep, personal relationship with the living God. Let us try our best to become available for God’s spirit who want to drive us to do his works. Fr. Lusius Nimu, ss.cc. Baptismal MISSION STATEMENT We, the members of St. Michael Parish, consisting of St. Michael Church, the Mission of Sts. Peter and Paul, and St. Michael School, declare our firm commitment to our Lord Jesus Christ, to unity as a Christian family of faith, to our spiritual, intellectual, social, moral and physical renewal, and to the proclamation of Christ’s love to all. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we will continue the mission entrusted to us. VISION STATEMENT We recognize that we are companions on the journey of life and faith, and together we witness to Jesus. We will establish goals that are spiritual, reasonable and measurable. These goals will challenge us to remain faithful to our Mission. We will commit personnel and finances, and seek other diocesan resources to ensure our Mission is realized. The Diocesan Road Map is our guide, and the Gospel is our inspiration. (Both revised 8/4/2010) Funerals SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1, 2015 Preparatory class is given every third Wednesday of each month. MICHAEL SCHOOL NEWS Last week we celebrated Catholic Schools Week with all other Catholic Schools all over the United States! It was a time for our students to be proud of the foundation and teachings of being a part of St. Michael School. We celebrated with various activities throughout the week that promoted fun and learning through Catholic education. Monday was Pajama Day and the students paired with their buddies to play Catholic Bingo. Tuesday was Super Hero Day and the students learned a song, Jesus Is My Super Hero. Wednesday we had Mass with Father Lusius and the students, faculty, and staff dressed for twin day. Father Lusius talked with the students about the importance of working together and learning from those around them. After Mass, the school came together to tye dye shirts as a show of solidarity. Thursday was a wacky day as the students came to school dressed in mismatched clothes showcasing their own individuality. The school was closed on Friday as the teachers joined with other Catholic School teachers to continue to learn for St. Michael School at the Annual Conference for Catholic Educators (ACCE). Happy Catholic Schools Week! Pope Francis Still Available are 2015 calendars. Please help yourself. Collection envelopes available for pick up. IF you have not yet picked up your box, please do so.
