Public Notices BENTON COUNTY NEWS, Tuesday, January 27, 2015 — Page 7 DEPARTMENT OF DEVELOPMENT Notice of Public Hearing Excitement in Ms. Kathi's FES Room Ms Kathi's FES classroom was filled with a gingerbread house that the children needed to decorate by cutting out candy, writing their name, putting on glue and then climbing a step ladder to put the candy on the house (that's all fine and gross motor work!). Then their families were invited into the classroom to celebrate! We made a “real gingerbread baby” that just happened to escape from the kitchen and ran around the school building. What joyful excitement for our youngest learners imagination!! We would like to extend a VERY sincere thank-you to Lori Landowski (elementary kitchen supervisor) for all of her support and enthusiasm!. A special thumbs up to Dena Voigt (library), Julie Dosh and Julie Herbst (front office) for their lively spirit as they played along as we looked for the lost gingerbread baby. In the back row are: Brooklyn and Dana Hogrefe, Simon Brenny, Ms Kathi, Benson Blank, Lori Landowski, Breana Rajkowski, Myah Katke, and Cayden Scott. In the front row are: Everett Bemboom, Bryce Leabch, Abigail (Submitted Photo) Kampa, McKenna Iverson, and Levi Shaw. meaningful reform and bilMore than Half lions of dollars in savings for taxpayer. The voluntary program provides financial assistance to participating farmers when the margin – the difference between the price of milk and feed costs – falls below the coverage level selected by the farmer. “Enrollment far exceeded our expectations in the first year,” said Vilsack. “We’re pleased that so many dairy producers are taking advantage of the expanded protection. USDA conducted a lot of outreach to get the word out. When you compare the initial enrollment rate for the Margin Protection Program to the longstanding federal crop insurance program, where participation ranges from 30 percent to 80 percent depending on the crop, it’s clear that these outreach efforts made a difference.” During the three months of the enrollment period, USDA conducted a robust education and outreach effort to the nation’s dairy producers. The department held over 500 public meetings, sent out nearly 60,000 direct mailings, and conducted more than 400 demonstrations of the Webbased tool designed to help applicants to calculate their specific coverage needs. Unlike earlier dairy programs, the Margin Protec-tion Program offers dairy producers a range of choices of protection that are best suited for their operation. Starting with basic coverage for an administrative fee of $100, producers can select higher levels of coverage at affordable incremental premiums. In Minnesota, more than 2,600 dairy operations signed up for the program. Dairy producers interested in enrolling in the Margin Protection Program for calendar year 2016 can register between July 1, 2015 and Sept. 30, 2015. To learn more about the Margin Protection Program, visit the Farm Service Agency (FSA) online at www.fsa.usda.gov or contact a local FSA office at offices.usda.gov. The Margin Protection Program was made possible through the 2014 Farm Bill, which builds on historic economic gains in rural America over the past five years, while achieving family members have had a bad reaction to a specific food, discover if it was food intolerance or a more serious food allergy. NFIB gives out the award at both the federal and state level to recognize legislators who have been supportive of small business on critical issues. To receive the award legislators had to demonstrate a supportive voting record for small business during the 2013-14 sessions of the Minnesota legislature. Senator Brown made many votes that were critical for small business, including opposing a dramatic $2.1 billion tax increase and then voting for several bills to quickly repeal damaging parts of that legislation. “Senator Brown is a real friend of small business and we are happy to announce that he has earned the NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award,” said Mike Hickey, State Director. State Senator Dave Brown was elected to his first term in 2010. Senator Brown serves on the Commerce committee, Environment and Energy committee, as well as the Finance Subcommittee on Health and Human Services. He encourages and appreciates constituent input, and can be reached at (651) 2968075, by mail at 109 State Office Building, 100 Rev.
