Elect Mary Benton.com Contact: Mary Benton-360-574--7369 (Vancouver, WA) Mary Benton, mother of four and office manager of their family business, has announced her candidacy for the Clark County Council, District 2. She officially filed the paperwork at the County Auditor’s office Friday afternoon. Benton, a resident of Clark County for 27 years, said: “I have always been very involved in our community as a PCO and through my children’s many activities, but now as my youngest son graduates from high school, I’m ready to contribute at a higher level.” Benton has been active as a committee member and merit badge counselor in the Boy Scouts of America organization for many years. She is the proud mother of two Eagle Scouts, an auto mechanic, and a school teacher. In addition, she has been a regular volunteer at King's Way Christian School. Benton and her family are members of Vancouver Church (Formerly First Church of God) on 78th street in Vancouver. She has been employed for the last 25 years by the family company as the office manager. She also sits on the corporate board as the treasurer of the corporation. Her passion is education, so in addition to managing the family company, she has also worked as a tutor for children with dyslexia in the evenings. Benton stated that her desire to run for County Council stems from her concerns over rising property taxes and the erosion of private property rights, especially in the rural areas. “I have lived in this county a long time and plan to live out my life here, and I want my kids to be able to raise their families here too,” she said. Benton concluded by saying: “We need to continue the County’s successful effort to create more opportunities for jobs here at home, and you do that by reducing the barriers to business entry. “ Benton can be contacted via her website at ElectMaryBenton.com or by email at: [email protected]
