Glanville of the Atlanta Judicial Circuit has been designated to serve in place of Presiding Justice P. Harris Hines in the appeal of Legacy Academy, Inc., et al. v. Mamilove LLC, et al. (S14G1891). The Supreme Court of Georgia will hear arguments in the case on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015 during its 10:00 A.M. session. In this Gwinnett County case, Legacy Academy, Inc. is asking the Georgia Supreme Court to reverse a lower court’s decision, which led to a jury finding that the franchise agreement contracted to by the parties a decade earlier was fraudulently induced. In addition to hearing arguments, Judge Glanville will participate in the Court’s decision. Judge Glanville, 52, was elected to the Superior Court of the Atlanta Judicial Circuit in July 2004; he has been re-elected two times. Prior to his service on the Fulton Superior Court, he served as a Magistrate Judge in Fulton County from 1995 to 2004 and previously served as a prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, and civil litigator. Alongside his civilian career, Judge Glanville has simultaneously served in the military. Now in his 30th year in the Army Reserves, he is a Brigadier General and is currently the Chief Judge (IMA) of the United States Army Court of Criminal Appeals. He served overseas in Germany, from 1990 to 1993, and was deployed to Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan in 2007, and again to Afghanistan, from 2012 to 2013. During his time on the Superior Court bench, Judge Glanville has served on the Board of Court Reporters and numerous civic organizations, and he is currently chairing the Superior Court’s Law Week committee, which aims to educate students about various aspects of civic duty and constitutional rights. Judge Glanville received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Georgia, and he received a master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College. He and his wife, Lisa, have been married 26 years and have two children, Evan and Leslie. (Designated judges are appointed when a justice must recuse himself or herself from a particular case. The Supreme Court of Georgia maintains a list of judges from around the state and, when the need arises, the Court appoints the next judge on the list to replace the justice.) 1
