Renee Boardman—4-year-olds
Mrs. Boardman graduated from Gordon College in Boston, MA
with a BA in Elementary and Special Education and a minor in
Psychology. Renee taught in an elementary special education
resource room for five years in PG County. After staying home
for 8 years to be a full time mom, Renee worked for 3 years in
Forcey Bible Church's Mother's Day Out program. Following
that, she became a preschool aide at FCS for a year, and worked
as a substitute in preschool/elementary school as well. She now
enjoys teaching 3-year-olds on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Jennifer Senio—3-year-olds
Mrs. Senio has taught preschool at Forcey Christian School since
2001. She received a B.S. in Elementary Education from the
University of Maryland in 1989. Jennifer has also taught 3rd
grade and 5th grade at FCS and at Dr. Brown Elementary School
in Waldorf, MD. She feels it is a great privilege to teach young
children in a Christian school. Her desire is to meet the needs of
each child in the class and to introduce them to the love of
Christ.
Anna Carlson—4-year-olds
Ms. Carlson graduated from Covenant College with a Bachelor’s
degree in Early Childhood Education in May 2013. The proud aunt of
twelve nieces and nephews, she has a love for children and desires
to instill in them a deep love for learning. As a pastor’s daughter, she
developed a passion for ministry, so her greatest desire is to impact
her students with the Gospel of Christ. Anna is excited about
teaching preschool and being a part of Forcey Christian School!
Stefanie Campbell—3-year-olds
Mrs. Campbell graduated from Messiah College with a degree in Early
Childhood Education. She taught kindergarten at FCS for seven years,
before taking a few years off to stay home with her children. She
taught in Forcey Bible Church’s ―Mother’s Day Out‖ program for four
years and then returned to FCS in 2012 to teach preschool. She
enjoys working with children and watching them grow and learn
throughout the school year. Her son and daughter attend FCS. Mrs.
Campbell and her family enjoy going to the beach and reading books together.
Linda Malanoski—Elementary Art
Mrs. Malanoski has been teaching in the preschool program at
Forcey since 2006. She graduated from Texas Christian
University with degrees in Art and Early Childhood Education in
1982. She previously taught Art as well as Kindergarten. Linda
enjoys being able to share her love of Art with her students!
Joy Daughtry—Kindergarten
Mrs. Daughtry excitedly joined the kindergarten team at FCS in 2013.
She holds a Master of Arts in Education from The College of William
and Mary. Her teaching journey began at a private Christian school in
Williamsburg, Virginia. Prior to entering education, Mrs. Daughtry
worked in the field of nursing. She has a Bachelor of Science in
Nursing from Radford University. She is married to her high school
sweet heart whom she met at youth group. She grew up in Maryland and is happy
to return to the area with her husband and children. She seeks to glorify God
through teaching and feels honored to nurture the young minds and hearts of the
future.
Cindy Crump—Kindergarten
Mrs. Crump graduated from George Washington University with
a degree in Elementary Education. While teaching at Forcey,
Mrs. Crump acquired her Master’s degree from Johns Hopkins
University as a Reading Specialist for grades K-12.. Teaching
brings her enjoyment. In addition, she enjoys being with her
family and gardening.
Erica Powell—Kindergarten
Ms. Powell is a graduate of Liberty University and has also
studied at Bowie State University. She taught at private and
public schools in Prince George’s County before coming to
Forcey in 2008. She has been on missions trips to both Mexico
and Kenya.
Rosalie Blackwell—1st
Mrs. Blackwell is a first-grade teacher with over thirty years
experience working with children. She began working at Forcey
Christian School in 2005. She has a Bachelor of Arts in
Education from Northwestern State College and a Master of
Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological
Seminary.
Steffi Cheng—1st
Ms. Cheng joined our staff in 2011 after graduating from the
University of Maryland with a degree in elementary education
(and a really high GPA). She has a love for young children and
desires to make a difference one child at a time. As an FCS
graduate, she counts it a privilege to teach alongside some of
her former teachers whom she greatly admires.
Thelma Hayes—1st
Mrs. Hayes’ favorite Bible verse reflects her love for teaching
children: ―I could have no greater joy than to know that my children
are walking in the truth.‖—3 John 4. Teaching is a career that she
has joyfully engaged in for over 20 years. She has taught in both
private and non-private settings. Mrs. Hayes has a BA degree from
UNC-G and a Master of Education degree with a specialization in
Reading and Literacy from Capella University. Over her career, Mrs. Hayes has
served as a missionary to Zimbabwe, Mexico, and Haiti and continues to serve in
the children’s and women’s ministry of her local church. She was excited to join the
FCS staff in 2013.
Michaeleen Blue—2nd
Ms. Michaeleen Blue has enjoyed teaching elementary
school children since 1989, upon achieving her Bachelor's
Degree in Elementary Education from the University of
Maryland, College Park. She earned her Master's Degree in
Math/Science Curriculum & Instruction in 1994, also from UMCP.
She has been honored and privileged to minister to and teach
children in second grade at FCS since 1997. To enhance the
quality and delivery of her reading instruction to a diverse group
of learners, she has taken nine post-graduate courses in Reading
at Johns Hopkins University. When not teaching, you will find her training for her
next triathlon.
Rebekah Culbertson—2nd
Mrs. Culbertson graduated from Frostburg State University with
a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She originally set
out to study Occupational Therapy, but through the course of
her studies discovered her love for teaching. In her spare time,
she enjoys spending time with family, being outside, reading,
and going to coffee shops with friends.
Jenni Killingsworth—2nd
Mrs. Killingsworth came to Forcey in the year of 2005 after
receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at
Eastern University. She left for one year after getting married in
2008 and returned in 2009 as a second grade teacher. She is
currently working on getting her master’s degree in School
Counseling. She enjoys her morning starbucks, a good movie,
and traveling.
Kelly Barrow—3rd
Ms. Barrow is one of a number of our staff members who is a
former Forcey student. A graduate of Taylor University in 2009
in elementary education, she joined the FCS staff in 2011. She
has also served as an assistant director of Forcey Day Camp.
Michele Mena—3rd
Mrs. Mena has a degree in elementary education from SUNY
College at Oneonta, NY. She’s done master’s work at Queens
College and Fordham University. With experience in both
elementary teaching and administration before coming to
Maryland from New York, she joined the FCS staff in 2010.
Kim Seagle—3rd
Ms. Seagle has been teaching third grade at Forcey Christian
School since 1996. She originally went to Shepherd College to
study graphic design, but through the course of her journey,
ended up with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education,
with a focus on Early Childhood Education. Kim thoroughly
enjoys teaching at Forcey, leading the children in their studies
with a Christian foundation. She is happy to be able to
incorporate her artistic interests whenever possible into the
children's learning. Kim happily lives with her son in Rockville.
Christine Hall—4th
Mrs. Hall began teaching at Forcey Christian School in 2008.
She received her Bachelor’s from the University of Maryland,
College Park in Kinesiology. She completed her Masters in
Elementary Education at Towson University. She states, ―I
immensely enjoy teaching fourth grade, and I look forward to
continuing my teaching career at Forcey for many years to
come.‖
Lynn Rohrer—4th
Mrs. Rohrer, a graduate of Liberty University, is the mother of 2 FCS
graduates and worked at the Library of Congress, among other
places, before joining the FCS teaching staff in 2013. She has been
married 21 years and grows great tomatoes.
Steve Shapero—4th
Having sought a career in music education, Mr. Shapero has two
degrees from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana and
from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. After an
18-year career switch into computer support at Vitro Labs and
then at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab, Steve decided to
go back to what he loved to do - work with kids. He has been
here at Forcey Christian School as a 4th grade teacher since the
turn of the millennium. Steve enjoys his family of 8, ping pong,
swimming, playing the drum set, and going on walks with his
faithful golden retriever, Isaiah.
Carol Cronin—5th
Mrs. Cronin has taught more than 10 years at FCS. She
originally taught in the second grade, and later moved on to
teach in the fifth grade. Her undergraduate degree is from the
University of Maryland, and her Masters work was completed at
Bowie State University. She holds Maryland State Certification
to teach Kindergarten through the eighth grade. Her education
has continued past the Masters level with additional coursework
in teaching Reading, Writing, and children with special needs.
Mrs. Cronin is married and has two sons who both attended FCS.
Timanda Wertz—5th
Miss Wertz is herself an alumna of FCS. After graduating from
Washington Bible College in 2002, she returned to teach first
grade for six years. In 2008, she moved to fifth grade, where
she now has the privilege of teaching her former first graders
and being awed by how much they have grown in the space of a
few short years. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in
Education at Philadelphia Biblical University. In her spare time,
Miss Wertz enjoys reading, writing, skating, playing volleyball,
and watching the Redskins.
Victoria Marroquin—5th
Another FCS graduate, Miss Marroquin joined the FCS staff in 2012
after completing her degree at Liberty University. A prolific student
herself, she is now pursuing her master’s degree.
Ann-Marie Hill—Middle School Math
After spending her early years in a small town in Wales, United
Kingdom, Mrs. Hill moved to Maryland when she was 11. She is
a graduate of Paint Branch High School and the University of
Maryland where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary
Education. She earned her Master of Christian Education in
2002. In 2010 she joined the staff of FCS, where both her
children attend school. Prior to that she taught for 12 years in
various MCPS schools, spending 8 years focused on teaching
mathematics, which loves doing here at FCS.
Debra McClanahan—Middle School Language Arts &
History
Having completed her undergraduate work at UMBC, Ms.
McClanahan earned a Master of Education from Loyola
University in 2010. Having taught 3rd grade at FCS since 2000,
she moved to the middle school in 2011.
Sandra Ritsema—6th Grade Bible and History
After graduating from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan
with a BA in Elementary Education, Miss Ritsema taught fifth
grade in Philadelphia for several years and served as a
missionary teacher in Uganda for two years. After taking a
sabbatical year during which she earned certificates in Biblical
counseling from the Christian Counseling and Education
Foundation in Philadelphia, Sandra moved back home to
Maryland and began teaching sixth grade at Forcey in 2006. She
currently teaches sixth grade Bible and History.
Caytie Mayn—6th Grade Science
Mrs. Mayn graduated from Gettysburg College with a degree in
Health & Exercise Science and a concentration in Education. She
taught middle school math for several years in Montgomery County.
While taking a few years off to be a stay-at-home mom, she provided
private tutoring in math and SAT prep, as well as taught in Forcey’s
Mother’s Day Out program. Last year, Mrs. Mayn became a familiar
face in Forcey’s hallways as she substituted at both the elementary and middle
school grade levels. She is thrilled to be teaching sixth grade science this year and
cannot wait for her students to discover God’s fingerprint in the world around them.
Mark Stewart—Middle School P.E. and Bible
Mr. Stewart earned a bachelor's degree in English from the
University of Maryland College Park in 1988 and a master's
degree (cum laude) in Biblical Studies from Capital Bible
Seminary in 2007. He worked as a sportswriter, columnist and
editor in the newspaper industry for 15 years before
transitioning to teaching. He taught English and Bible at
Washington Bible College for five years before joining the FCS
faculty in 2010. He has been married to his wife Lisa since 1995
and has had two sons at FCS. His interests and hobbies include
writing, reading, Scrabble, coaching, and just about anything involving basketball.
Cheri Vislay—8th
Mrs. Vislay has been teaching at Forcey since 1988. She took a
few years off to stay home with her girls and returned to second
grade in 2002. In the fall of 2008, she began teaching fourth
grade. She graduated from Messiah College with a degree in
Elementary Education in 1986. She received her master's
degree in Education, Administration and Supervision from the
University of Phoenix in 2005. She has lived in the Washington,
D.C. area all of her life and is a major Washington Redskins fan.
Zarnez Campbell—Athletic Director
Mr. Campbell wears many hats at FCS. From athletic director to
coach to PE assistant to bus driver, he uses his versatility to
serve FCS in a variety of capacities.
Ruth Thompson—PE and Guidance Counselor
Mrs. Thompson has an undergraduate degree in teaching
physical education and a Master’s degree in counseling. She
joined the FCS staff in 2004, having previously taught in
Minnesota, Japan, and Tanzania.
Sharon Holloway—7th Grade Language Arts
Mrs. Holloway has been teaching part time at Forcey since
2005. She has a B.S. in Elementary Education and a B.A. in
Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. She
currently teaches seventh grade Language Arts/Writing. She
always wanted to be a teacher and feels blessed to be a part of
this wonderful school. She has been happily married for 25+
yrs. and has five children. Her daughter, Brooklyn, was the last
of all her siblings to graduate from FCS in 2009. She loves
teaching here in such a godly, supportive environment. Her
other interests include traveling, reading, exercising and knitting.
John Richards—Middle School Science
Mr. and Mrs. Richards relocated to her childhood home in
Bethesda in 2008 after living 20 years in western MD where he
taught school and she directed a children’s home. After
graduating from Wheaton (IL) College and VA State University
(Master’s degree in Elementary Education), Mr. Richards taught
11 years in public schools before taking a position in private
industry. He returned to teaching in Christian education where
he has served since. He and his wife are active members of
Fourth Presbyterian Church in Bethesda.
Carolyn Kennedy—8th Grade Language Arts
Mrs. Kennedy has been teaching at Forcey since 2003. She has
a Masters of Education from Regent University, along with a
Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts in English and
Drama from the University of Western Ontario. She teaches 8th
grade Language Arts/Writing and is known around Forcey Bible
Church for her acting and playwriting abilities.
Sue Moraz—MS Teacher Mentor
Mrs. Moraz has taught at Forcey for more than 20 years. She is
certified to teach K-8th grades. She is currently serving as a
teacher mentor for the middle school teachers. Mrs. Moraz has
been married to her husband, George, for 30 years and has one
daughter, Elizabeth. In her leisure time, Mrs. Moraz enjoys
knitting, reading and traveling.
Lindsay Rhoderick—Middle School Math
Mrs. Lindsay Morrill Rhoderick attended FCS from 4th - 8th
grade and is the first graduate of Forcey Christian Middle School
to come back to work at the middle school level. She has
always had a passion for teaching and even interned in high
school with Mrs. Taylor (one of the sixth grade teachers). She
graduated from Villa Julie College (now Stevenson University) in
2006 and earned a master’s degree in mathematics education
from the University of Maryland College Park in 2009. She
married her high school sweetheart in 2011.
Lonnie Harris—7th Grade Bible
Rev. Harris is the associate pastor of young adults at Forcey Bible
Church. Born and raised in Maryland, he went on to study at
Washington Bible College, before earning his M. Div. at Capital Bible
Seminary.
Sara Idler—Middle School Spanish
Senora Idler teaches 7th and 8th grade Spanish. She graduated
from Washington University in St. Louis with a bachelor’s degree
in Cultural Anthropology and Latin American Studies. After
working in St. Louis for two years, she moved to Venezuela
where she lived, studied and taught foreign language from
1999-2001. She taught preschool and sixth grade at Colegio
Santa Rosa de Lima in Caracas, Venezuela and older youth at
Centro Venezolano Americano. It was in Venezuela that she
came to know Christ and also met her husband, Jose. After
returning to the states, Mrs. Idler pursued her teaching degree while raising two
young children, working at her church and teaching Spanish at a local elementary
school. Now, she is excited to have joined the middle school teaching team at
Forcey Christian School.
Bonnie French—Middle School Art
Mrs. French has been teaching art to middle school students
since 2001. A local product, she is a graduate of Paint Branch
High School and the University of Maryland where she earned a
B.A. in Studio Art. Her children are all graduates of FCS.
Sherry Ohanian—Elementary School Music
Having a desire to teach young children since her own childhood,
Mrs. Ohanian received a B.A. in Elementary Education from
Trinity Christian College in 1990. She started her career that fall,
teaching a combination first and second grade class in a small
school in North Carolina, and moved to Silver Spring in 1991.
Sherry taught in the primary grades for 13 years before coming
to FCS in the fall of 2004. After teaching 4th grade for several
years, she followed her passion for music and took on the music
teaching position, along with starting the FCS Children’s Choir.
Heidi Corcoran—Library
Heidi Corcoran has a master’s degree in library science and is
the media specialist at Forcey Christian School. She has worked
in a variety of libraries but loves working with children,
children’s books, and the world of information most of all. She
feels blessed to work in a Christian school library where the love
of Christ can be shared in a variety of ways.
Terri Brodt—Resource Department Head
Mrs. Brodt graduated from the University of Arizona. She has
done graduate work in education at Johns Hopkins University,
University of Maryland, Trinity College, and Washington Bible
College. She has been teaching at Forcey for 11 years, 5 as a
second grade teacher and 6 years as the school resource
teacher. Terri is Maryland state certified to teach both general
and special education. In her non-school persona, Terri has
been married to Bill for 31 years, has 3 grown children plus 2
fox terriers, and is a member of Forcey Bible Church.
Elizabeth Loys—Resource Teacher
Mrs. Loys graduated from the University of Maryland, College
Park, with a degree in Special Education (dual certification in
Elem. Ed. and Spec. Ed.). She taught 4th–6th grades in two P.G.
County public schools for a total of 7 years. After a few years at
home raising her children and homeschooling, Mrs. Loys
returned to the field, filling various roles such as substitute
teaching, tutoring, and teaching remedial math and reading
groups at Forcey. Then in 2005, Mrs. Loys launched the Reading
Enrichment program for grades 3-5. Mrs. Loys received her
training and certificate through the Junior Great Books Foundation. She also has
taken various seminars on teaching highly-abled students. She feels blessed each
day she comes to work and enjoys challenging her students to grow in their
reading, writing, and thinking skills, and creative talents, especially in a Christcentered environment. Mrs. Loys has two grown children who attended FCS. When
she is not teaching she enjoys knitting, sewing, baking, and cake decorating.
Deanna Sheng—Resource Teacher
Mrs. Sheng joined the FCS staff in 1992 out of Gordon College
with a degree in elementary education. After teaching first
grade for several years, she left to stay home with her own
children. She has returned to the FCS resource department to
work part-time with the students in the early elementary
grades. She and her husband, Tony, have a non-profit, The
Ember Cast, that provides leadership training for students and
youth ministers in the area of global missions. They have served
as the student missions coordinators at Grace Community Church.
Alice Hess—Band Instructor
Mrs. Hess graduated from the New England Conservatory of
Music with a double degree in Music Education and Music
Performance. After teaching instrumental music in Wellesley,
Massachusetts and then in Montgomery County, she came to
Forcey where she has enjoyed the freedom to teach children to
play Christian music for the past 15 years. She teaches several
bands for students from 4th grade through 8th grade including
the Forcey Jazz Band. Because of the lack of materials for
Christian school bands, Mrs. Hess has written several band
method books for different levels that incorporate Christian songs and hymns, and
arranges Christian songs for band. Mrs. Hess has been married to Bill for 34 years
and has four grown children who all attended FCS. In her spare time, she enjoys
reading, designing websites, and playing with her grandchildren.
Ron Jones—5th Grade PE, School Board Chairman
Rev. Jones is the pastor of Christian Education at Forcey Bible
Church and the chair of the school board. As a former youth
pastor, Ron has a love for children of all ages.
Pat Cowan—School Nurse
Mrs. Cowan was drawn to nursing at age 3. She graduated
Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1979.
Most of her nursing career has been spent in the hospital
setting with specialties in Respiratory Intensive Care and
Therapeutic Hemapheresis. She is blessed with three children,
14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren who bring her great
joy. Now she enjoys the wonderful, challenging job of caring for
Forcey’s students. Each child has unique needs and is eager to
learn about their health. Her favorite pastimes are spending time with her family,
travel, choir and making large banners for church.
Erriel Roberson—Principal
Principal Roberson left a career in the pharmaceutical industry to
go into education. His undergraduate degree is from the
University of Richmond, while his Master of Education is from
Loyola University. He is currently completing a Doctorate of
Education from Regent University. He taught fourth grade
before serving as the principal of a private school in Columbia,
MD. He joined FCS in 2010.
Zeke Wharton—Administrator
In a sense, you could say that Mr. Wharton has been at Forcey
more than 20 years. He was a student in the first kindergarten
class at FCS and spent 7 years here as a student (the school
ended at grade 6 at that time). After graduating from high
school in Montgomery County, he earned his B.A. in
Government & Politics from the University of Maryland in College
Park, graduating summa cum laude. He taught for one year at
a private school in Laytonsville, before returning to Forcey as a
5th grade teacher. In the meantime, he earned a Master of Science in Education
from Johns Hopkins University. After teaching 5th grade for 4 years, he became
the administrator of Forcey Christian Middle School in 1999. He finished his Master
of Divinity from Trinity Theological Seminary in 2005 and was ordained in 2006.
With the merging of the middle and elementary schools, Mr. Wharton now serves as
the administrator of the combined preschool through grade 8 program.
Mr. Wharton and his wife, Cheryl, have two children, Bethany and J.D. They enjoy
going to Red Sox games together, reading mysteries, and hanging out at the
beach, when dad is not preaching at church.
