Accessing and using BOSSnet

BOSSnet January 2015:
BOSSnet is the Application used to view the Digital Medical Record at Ballarat Health Services. Most
of the documentation from an inpatient perspective is still on paper; however, it is scanned into
BOSSnet upon patient discharge. All prior visits to the hospital since the implementation of BOSSnet
in 2010 are viewed electronically. Outpatients can be documented electronically or written on
paper and scanned at a later date. Dictated letters are uploaded to BOSSnet upon approval.
BOSSnet also has clinical system functionality that we utilise at BHS:
 Clinician dashboard for access to all patient information
 Patient lists/ Task lists/ Work lists
 Electronic order entry Fracture clinic and Allied Heath Referrals - (Pathology/Radiology still
paper at present)
 Electronic results review
 Electronic medical record with direct entry documents
 Electronic Discharge Summary generation and secure dispatch
Accessing BOSSnet:
The Application can be found on the desktop of the PC or on the front page of the BHS Intranet.
You will be provided with a personal logon to the BHS computers and when logged into the network
BOSSnet will authenticate this logon and open. If you want to access BOSSnet from a general ward
computer, when you open BOSSnet it will ask you for your BOSSnet logon which will be similar to
your personal logon with a prefix of “bbh\” and a separate password.
When accounts are created for a user, their access is based on their job role and most of the
electronic functionality available to you will be attached. When you open your BOSSnet account it
should open at the inpatient list that your user role requires.
How to use BOSSnet:
There is training available to you either by booking into a training session, arranging a ‘one on one’
session or viewing the online training on the BHS Intranet. For Bookings contact Clinical Application
Support 532096665 or 532096610. The Intranet has some “cheat sheets” that you are welcome to
print. Go to http://bhsnet/node/1586 from within Ballarat Health Services to access this
information.
