 Spring Classes/Trips – Sign up early, trips fill on a first come, first serve basis.
 Please register at least one week prior to the class/trip start date so we can plan
accordingly. A minimum number of registrants are required for programs to be held.

Be a part of this exciting comfort blank project for Breast Cancer patients!! Participants should have a basic/beginner’s
knowledge of crocheting, an understanding of how to make a “chain”, “double crochet stitch”, and “slip stitch”. All
Shades of Pink Comfort Blankets are given to Breast Cancer Patients. All supplies provided. Ages 50 & up.
All Shades of Pink meets on March 9, April 13, and May 18, 10am-Noon.

mode of transportation is not guaranteed and may be
changed. Here are some of the vehicles we use:

bus that seats 12 adults comfortably
 Commission bus-large (27 passenger), white bus
 Charter bus- a private company is contracted to
provide a coach bus (typically 40-50 passengers).

Langley Park Senior Activity Center sells WMATA Senior SmartTrip cards which can be used
for Metrorail, Metro bus, all regional bus systems, and parking at most Metro-operated lots.
To purchase a Senior SmarTrip card, you must be 65 years of age with a photo ID. The cost is
$2. See our Langley Park Senior Activity Center front desk staff to purchase.

The DEA Museum opens an interactive exhibit that delves into the prescription drug abuse problem gripping America
today. The exhibit explores the history of prescription drug abuse and diversion in the United States and efforts to combat
the problem and includes recreations of period pharmacies, depictions of significant cases, and displays illustrating the
impact of these substances on the human body. The rise of rogue internet pharmacies in the past ten years is highlighted.
The exhibit presents the science of how these medicines can have therapeutic effects on the body when taken properly,
but detrimental effects when misused. There will be a question and answer period with a DEA agent. Meals are at your own
expense. Transportation aboard the Commission Bus.

Peripheral arterial disease (P.A.D.) is a common circulation problem where the arteries become narrow or clogged. A
non-invasive, painless test will be taken that measures the ration of the blood pressure of the ankle compared to the arm.
Lower blood pressure in the ankle indicates blocked arteries. A Doppler Ultrasound Test a non-invasive test will be taken
that visualizes the artery with sound waves and measures the blood flow in the artery to indicate if there is an arterial
blockage. Register early to have your test taken and reviewed by a Heart Health Clinical Vascular Specialist.

Walk Your Way To A Healthier You
Join others at Langley Park who wants to improve their health by walking. Our walking program meets every Monday and
Friday at 9:30am. On your first visit, you will receive a punch card and a pedometer. Each day you walk you will get your
card punched. Come one day a week or two whenever it is convenient for you. Incentive awards for those who continue

May is American Stroke Month! Suburban Hospital and the American Heart Association have partnered to help the fight
against stroke. Stroke is the 3rd leading cause of the death in the US. It can occur at any time, to anyone, without regard to
age or ethnicity. Through an interactive workshop, learn to recognize key signs and symptoms along with ways to reduce risk
factors for this life threatening condition. What you learn could save your or a loved one’s life! Seminar provided by the NIH
Heart Center at Suburban Hospital.
SENIOR NUTRITION PROGRAM
The Senior Nutrition Program (hot lunch) is offered Monday
through Friday featuring a healthy, well-balanced meal.
Individuals who are 60 & better can reserve a meal by
contacting our Nutrition Manager, Austin Simpson at
(301) 439-3056 or by contacting the Department of
Family Services Nutrition Office at 301-265-8475.
You must register by 1pm the day before you would like a meal,
register by 1pm Friday for a Monday meal.

The actual donation is $3.00. Please donate as much as you can.
If you need to cancel your meal, please do so at two (2) days in
advance with Austin Simpson, Nutrition Manager at (301) 4393056. Please bring exact change to cover your donation. Coffee
and donuts are available everyday 9am-11am.
Note: There will be no lunch program when Prince George’s
County schools have a delayed opening or closed due to inclement
weather conditions.

Class and activity refunds are subject to a
20% handling fee and must be requested in
writing. Trip refunds will only be available if
your registration is replaced by someone
on the waiting list. If you must cancel your
reservation, please contact the center staff

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
M-NCPPC follows the decisions of Montgomery and Prince George’s County Governments in announcing closings and delays related to snow and
weather related emergencies. Therefore, if the County Government announces an all-day closing, the facilities in that county will be closed.
