THERMOSTAT IMMERSION HEATERS - Phillips & Temro Industries

THERMOSTAT
IMMERSION HEATERS
Immersion heater with a
thermostat which regulates
heater’s operating hours.
BENEFITS
• Saves money by reducing
electrical costs since the
engine heater cycle time
is reduced
• Ensures engine start up
since desired temperatures
are maintained
• Accommodates trucks
entering or departing the
bay since no preset timer
is required
• Efficient heater operation
because the thermostat
measures the coolant
temperature rather than
ambient air
• Cost saving can be realized
away from home base since
the system stays on-board
the truck
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS
TEST DATA
The thermostat regulates the engine
heaters by controlling coolant
temperatures. The heater is cycled on
and off according to temperature range
settings. This ensures that a fleet owner
or manager can control electric costs
whether the truck is parked in the bay
or on the road.
• Tests were conducted across North
America from extremely cold climates
to moderate climates. The results
reveal that the thermostat system
reduces heater operating hours
and electrical costs in the cold
weather months.

TEST RESULTS ILLUSTRATE POTENTIAL COST SAVINGS
Tests conducted with the thermostat system in extremely cold
Minneapolis, and the less severe climates of Boston and Kansas City,
reveal the benefit of using a thermostat with a 750 Watt heater on a
Cummins 3.9L ISBe engine. It is evident that the thermostat system
greatly reduces heater operating hours and electrical costs in each of
the cold weather months.
