The Barrington Fire Co. #1 hosted their popular beer and food garden on the grounds of the fire house, and Clements Bridge Road became a walk down memory lane as restored and customized cars from through the years were on display. The Kidsí Section was popular, too, and the inflatable bounces are always a big hit. There was also a hayride, pony rides, a petting zoo, the video game truck, and other fun activities. There was live entertainment on three stages spread throughout the Festival. Local rock groups performed in front of the Old Rail Tavern, and the main stage in front of the B-Corner Market featured a variety of acts like the Next Stage Dancers, the LNT Rock Band Camp and Oliver Showcase, Andrew Whitman, Terry Rivel, Shadow Station, pop recording artist Felicia, and party band The Business. A dj spun oldies amid the display of classic cars, and there were also acts like Paisley Pickles for the pre-schoolers. The “Barrington’s Got Talent” contest has been very popular in providing rising stars with a place to show off their talent and the crowd has always been impressed and entertained. The top winners were Arianna Davis, Gianna DeMao, Heavenlee Joyce, Katie Walters, Molly McShane and Lizzie Stolte. Another tradition at the Harvest Festival is to attempt to break some offbeat record. This year, the crowd attempted to set a new record for the number of people gathered together to sing and perform “The Cup Song.” The record number is constantly being set and broken, but it grabbed the attention of Radio Station 92.5 WXTU, who also participated in the event. There were 80 participants ages 5 and up while no record was broken, it was an amazing turnout and great to see the kids in the community come together and feel proud to be a part of something that required not only their presence, but their skill. The Basket Auction was a big success once again this year, with clubs and organizations participating by sponsoring baskets of prizes. Everyone who enjoyed the day is grateful to the committee that put it all together. Long-time committee members include Megan O’Donnell, Barbara Hanson, and Denise Moules. They were joined by Becky Bierbach, Mindy Berwick, Councilwomen Maureen Bergeron and Patti Nicholson, along with Fire Chief John Sutch, Mike Drumm, Anthony Iaconelli, Jeff Zola, Nicole DeRosa Lukaitis and Bill Patton. Many local citizens play important roles in making the event a success, and the town thanks them all! The Public Works Department, the Tax Office staff, the Police Department, the Fire Company, the Fire Police, the Fire Alliance and the Ambulance volunteers have supported the Harvest Festival right from the start 16 years ago. We hope that everyone enjoyed yet another successful Harvest Festival in Downtown Barrington!
