This month Japan Today will provide you some of the information from the various levels of government. Have you registered for Child Benefit Payments? If you have a child who is in Junior High School and you never received any benefit payments under the old “Child Allowance” system, please apply for the new “Child Benefit Payments” as soon as possible. The Iwaki City Government has been accepting applications for Child Benefit Payments since the 1st of April 2010. If you apply for these payments before the 30th of September 2010, your application will be accepted and your payments will backdated and paid from the 1st of April. (If the child you are apply for has just been born, or you are moving to Iwaki from somewhere else, your Child Benefit Payments will be paid from the following month of the date your application was submitted. Even if you are receiving “Child Benefit Payments” as a continuation of the old “Child Allowance” system, you need to officially submit a formal statement of current household living conditions. If you do not submit this formal statement , you may lose the right to receive “Child Benefit Payments” or payments may be stopped temporarily. To avoid this, please submit it as soon as possible.
