were sick or oppressed by demons. 33And the whole city was
gathered together at the door. 34And he healed many who were
sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. And he
would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him.

P: In Holy Baptism our Lord Jesus Christ liberated you from sin
and death and made you members of his Church. Through
Word and Sacrament you have been nurtured in faith. I ask
you, together with all who are here gathered, to confess the
faith of the Church, the faith in which we are baptized.
* Apostles Creed
P: We confess together the faith we hold and the faith we share:
C: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and
earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered
under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He
descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the
dead. He ascended into heaven and sits on the right hand
of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to
judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the
communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life T everlasting. Amen.

P: St. Paul writes: There are different kinds of Spiritual gifts, but
the same Spirit gives them. There are different ways of serving,
but the same Lord is served. There are different abilities to
perform service, but the same God gives to everyone ability for
particular service. The Spirit’s presence is shown in some way
in each person for the good of all. (1 Corinthians 12.4-7) You
have been elected to positions of leadership and trust in this
congregation.
P: You are to see that the words and deeds of this household of
faith reflect him in whose name we gather. You are to work
together with other members to see that the worship and work

of Christ done in this congregation, and that God’s will is done
in this community and in the whole world. You are to be diligent in your specific area of serving, that the Lord who
empowers you is glorified. You are to be examples of faith active in love, to help maintain the life and harmony of this
congregation.
P: On behalf of your sisters and brothers in Christ, I ask you:
are you ready to faithfully carry out the duties of the offices to
which you have been elected?

P: We pray for all who have not heard your Word of Truth and
liberation in Jesus the Christ. Send your Holy Spirit upon them,
open their minds and hearts to see Jesus as the way, the truth,
and the life. Lord, in your mercy …
P: Our prayers rise before you Holy and mighty Lord, for all who
are sick in body, mind or spirit. As you declared victory over
the powers of Sin and death in the cross and resurrection of
your Son so also destroy the powers of illness in the bodies of
all for whom we pray, especially _____________, and all whom
we name in our hearts, Lord, in your mercy …

GOD’S BLESSINGS to all those celebrating birthdays: on Wednesday, Charlie Crouch celebrates his birthday. On Friday, Jerry &
Lance Pailer will celebrate their anniversary. Best wishes, congratulations!
COUNCIL MEETING today, 15 minutes after the conclusion of the
service.
TWO REMINDERS: Next week is MITE SUNDAY, and we will have
a HEALING SERVICE after the service.
MITE SUNDAY: A mite is defined as “a small contribution given by
a person who has very little.” With the way money goes, that
could be any one of us as we empty our pockets or purses at the
end of the week. All that Lutheran Women's Mission League is
asking for is that loose change. Mere mites, when added up from
all LCMS congregations, total millions of dollars which go towards
such programs as training K-9 Comfort Dogs for LCMS Chaplains,
helping at-risk children, building homes in Haiti and supporting
Lutheran missionaries around the world.”
UPCOMING B.L.A.S.T EVENT: “Bringing Lives and Spirit Together”
is hosting “Dinner Around the World” on Sunday, February 15
from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. This event is open to the public and to all
ages. Kristen Kersey is heading this event up and will need volunteers to assist in this unique event. A sign-up sheet is on the
table.
AN ALTAR CARE MEETING will take place in the Sanctuary on
Tuesday, February 17 at 10:00 a.m. For those who have one,
please bring your Altar Care Guide with you. Extra copies of the
guide will be on hand for anyone who would like to join us. We
will be discussing some changes being made and answer any
questions you may have.

THE LENTEN SEASON & FLOWERS FOR THE ALTAR: The Lenten
Season begins in only two more Sundays. During Lententide no
flowers are placed on the altar. Traditionally in LCMS and ELCA
this is a season of austerity and simple reflection If you have an
occasion to celebrate, consider providing flowers in the next two
weeks, after Easter, or placing them in the Narthex where visitors
and all can enjoy them.
LENTEN SOUP SUPPERS – the first of five suppers will
begin on Wednesday, February 25. A sign-up sheet is on the
round table. Soup, it does a body good! Soup is served at 6:30
p.m. and bible study will follow.
THE MEMBERS DIRECTORY: You may know who you are, or you
may not. You are the member who has not had your updated
photograph taken. Good News! On Wednesday February 11th and
Thursday, the 12th, we will have the photographer set up to take
your portrait. Please see page 19 of this bulletin; if your name is
on it, we need to get you on the schedule! We will be contacting
you next week or call in. 
ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE FEBRUARY 18, 7:00 P.M.
THURSDAY BIBLE STUDY: Pastor Andy and Carol will be out of
town on Thursday & Friday February 19 & 20. The bible study
classes on Thursday will be suspended till the following week.
FLOOD RELIEF BUCKETS: LOLC is participating in this outreach
ministry, along with many other LCMS congregations and districts
who are assembling flood relief buckets as part of a disaster preparedness program. The goal is to fill empty 5-gallon buckets
with cleaning items from a suggested list. We are asking members to purchase (or donate $ for) buckets and items from the
list. The total cost is around $25-$30 per bucket. This project

assists those in the aftermath of a flood or hurricane by providing
cleaning supplies. A sample Flood Bucket and copies of the
needed cleaning items list are available in the narthex. Please
take the list and help in any way you can with this project. Thank
you to the eight members who have completed and delivered
buckets! We are looking, hoping, and praying for many more.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY FURNITURE STORE: Two of our LOLC
members, Janis & Mara Lipacis, are faithful volunteers to this vital
organization that benefits our community in so many ways. The
local ReStore, located at 1027 Lake Oconee Parkway is in dire
need of more volunteers please call them at 706 - 991-1600. You
can meet new people when you volunteer. The amount of time
you donate does not have to be large and is at your convenience.
Habitat especially needs Thursday afternoon cashiers, as wells as
mentors for families selected to be homeowners. Friday and Saturday volunteers at the store are construction team members,
who drive the truck to pickup of donations. An opportunity to
serve as secretary to the board is open. Finally, please spread the
word to anyone else (friend or family) who might be a willing volunteer. Talk to Janis & Mara and they can give you first-hand
information.
WE OFFER NURSERY & CHILDCARE WHEN NEEDED during the
worship service. If you need childcare, please see one of the ushers and we will happily accommodate you.

The window behind the altar is our EASTER SUNRISE WINDOW. The
cross hanging in front of the window is an empty cross, reminding us
that Jesus rose from the dead and is alive now to be with us here and
always. Every Sunday is a celebration of Easter. The symbol on the
front of the ALTAR is a combination of two Greek letters: the “chi”
which looks like our English “x” and the “rho” which looks like our “p.” In
the Greek, these are the first two letters of “Christ.” Combined as they
are, they suggest the cross. Superimposed on the cross is a heart, the
reminder that God’s love for us is the reason Jesus died on the cross.
God’s love for us empowers us to share his love with others.
